    Brexit, for once some facts.

I doubt she'll get the opportunity to even attempt it, nor am I convinced she'd even try hard enough. A short while ago she was a remainer. I think she's just good at arguing, but like all politicians not too bothered what case she's arguing, so long as it's personally beneficial. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

It isn't, it's worse, since sending goods into the mainland EU countries will involve far more bureaucracy that at present. The larger busineses wil handle that ok, but smaller outfits will struggle if they wish to continue sending goods to multiple countries. But business leaders see the...

    Insult to Democracy

Careful you guys, the way the police are these days, next they'll be asking you how you knew they were dead and where you were when it happened. :( .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I've been saying this for years Dave, the structure of this country is nonsensical. That England and Scotland are nations and countries is the only thing that is certain. Northern Ireland, made from six counties, can be considered a country, but it's hardly a nation. Wales is a nation and...

It'll probably reach 2020. I wonder if article 50 notice will have been served by then! :D .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Actually there is already more than a grave risk to one of those, I'm speaking of respect of human rights including the rights of minorities where we are already in breach according to the EU. The right of prisoners to vote. They were most recently denied that fundamental right in both the...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Yes, the property rats are deserting ship, it's the first definite sign of a post Brexit decision economic downturn as the property investors get frightened. Lloyds of London are getting rattled too, and George Osbourne is proposing slashing corporation tax to keep companies from deserting...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I believe that can be a problem with beta emitters, but I've never used them. I cancelled my licence for use in 1995 after 22 years with it since I'd stopped using isotopes and the government started annual charging. I also used to use polonium 210 isotopes for well over a year, despite their...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

No, polonium 210 emission has been use for many years as an effective static eliminator in various forms of high speed printing, especially newsprint. Jams at high speed in the presses can cause catastrophic damage to the machinery, and high voltage coratron static discharge is ineffective at...

    New Top Gear was Pants

I agree. With the loss of the Clarkson team I think only a complete change would do, the mimicking of the old program was unlikely to work. Other than the old Top Gear, no car program has ever worked well long term on UK TV. .

    New Top Gear was Pants

Chris Evans has announced his withdrawal from Top Gear. The show has slumped from 5 million viewers per episode to 1.9 millions for the latest one shown. Matt le Blanc will be taking the lead for the present. .

Little did I realise when I started this thread that it would reach the all time record length of 101 pages, overtaking the Electronic Cigarettes one. And also be the record breaker for diametrical disagreement! .

Don't you think it's just a teeny bit one-sided? :D  I agree with their comment that assurances are needed on Theresa May's leave intentions though, there are indications that she could be shaky. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The way things are drifting politically here in the UK, I don't think we are going to find out whether we'd survive well outside. Michael Gove seems to me to most represent leavers desires, but he's obviously being ganged up against now. With Theresa May as favourite for PM and her being a...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

It was actually Polonium 210, assuming Comrade Vladimir Vladimirovich did poison Alexander Litvinenko. And the tale we were all fed about that incident was another pack of political lies, but that's another story. Suffice it to say that as a licenced user, I used to buy my polonium 210 from...

Which is probably the reason why the decision is being delayed. Only this morning Home Office minister James Brokenshire has said it won't be until the end of the year, and there's some talk of next Spring. The longer it drags on, the greater the chance that the referendum result will be set...

Should we be suprised by the Brexit victory?

You can ignore that, it's just politics, the EU members only willing to discuss the UK departure in isolation. Then afterwards they'll deal with Scotland if required to, as ever wanting to take any extra bit of territory into the union. From Luxembourg to trying to include Norway, they've...

    Wheel turns the wrong way.

I'm not sure but think that's right. A fiddly job to do, but it could be the answer. I don't know what the brake arrangemnt is on your wheel or if the wheel is symmetrical, but could the wheel be reversed instead? .

My post was only based on if we trigger article 50, the period would then only be likely to be two years to being out, since other members have clearly lost patience with us. I'm not certain article 50 will be triggered but think on balance it probably will be. .

Are ebikes worth the price tag?

And also bearing in mind that gearing the pedalling though an epicyclic instead of direct means a slight loss of rider efficiency, making too high a gear slightly worse. It's not a big difference, but every little counts. .
