Ebike with Twist and Go Required

This is because there is no special dispensation from the EU and there is no type approval class for pedelecs. What has happened is that our DfT in passing the EU type pedelec regulations has indicated that it intends to introduce a UK use only type approval class for EAPCs (pedelecs) with...

    L1e-A testing requirements

That must still be true since the more extreme modifications to cars fo disabled use could never get through either type approval or SVA. But as you rightly say, this is no use to pedelecers whose needs fall short of disability. Since the EU is so determined not to change the exemption...

    L1e-A testing requirements

Where a challenge is concerned much will depend on the provision of a type approval class for a throttle equipped pedelec. I couldn't see a challenge succeeding anywhere that is provided, since the user would not suffer any discrimination. .

    L1e-A testing requirements

Indeed, the position continues to be unpromising. They seem quite determined to keep 168/2013 as it is. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

This is not what we've posted, you are grossly distorting. We haven't said the UK all bad and the EU all good. What I and others have highlighted is the fact that the UK was increasingly failing prior to joining the EU. Nor have we said our better performance now was down to EU membership...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

This is mind boggling fantasy! Why were we failing so utterly in almost all fields of design, manufacturing and commerce when on our own in the decades up to the point of joining the EU? And where is this enterprise that's left us buying just about everything we need from other countries? .

Bit confused about the Bosch Drive Unit Performance CX

Yes, usually not really relevant with a hub motor, unless with a torque sensor on the crank.. Any system with a torque sensor is affected by cadence, since each pedal stroke pressure on the torque sensor reduces with rising cadence, affecting the assist power supplied. .

    hello from Belgium

Hi. On this page click "Parameters" below the photo of the bike. That shows the full spec of the OP's bike. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

In my case because it's not economics, it's the relevant UK history that matters, something I'm probably better able to judge than Canadian Mark Carney. I'm speaking of the history of our increasing failure before we joined the EU, which I've detailed at length earlier in this thread. That...

Bit confused about the Bosch Drive Unit Performance CX

But as you say, briefly. A fully fit cyclist can continuously produce 200 watts for two or three hours, and at half or less that extreme cadence. But of course a very high proportion of e-bikers aren't fully fit, the reason for them using an e-bike, and they generally use much lower cadences...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

No, of course not, the EU had no option since they do not directly control the individual member countries. This where Brexiters constantly make the same mistakes in thinking they do. The EU only provides a framework for compatibility between member countries. Within that framework each...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

This is not due to the EU but to these member countries, as I pointed out on this link and then again on this link. They've had the same option to succeed within the EU as Germany, The Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Austria, all of whom have succeeded under the identical EU rules. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Thanks, I don't disagree with this, but the push for union has not caused the economic troubles of the Southern Countries. They have each in similar ways brought this upon themselves. They knew what they were joining but were not prepared to act responsibly as a part of the EU. Instead they...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I see no such problem, since Germany, The Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Austria are all succeeding within the EU and its structures. Even here in the UK we're doing well in many respects within our membership. You've missed the point that each country within the EU needs to play its part...

£300 ebike grant launched in Jersey

Congratulations States of Jersey, they follow our pedelec law but have the good sense to give this grant to encourage e-bike use, something we in the UK sadly don't do.

Presumably you aren't aware of the gross lies he utters? As a television documentary exposed but many of us knew already, he is one of the most disreputable and dishonest people we've ever suffered, both in civil life and as a politician. Sadly there are many people who are taken in by what is...

Look at this absolute beast...12kW ebike!!!!!

They make the usual mistake of saying it's street legal when switched to the 250 watt mode. It's not of course when such mode switching is under the rider's control. Termed an "off-road" switch by the DfT, they are emphatic that these are illegal. .

Bit confused about the Bosch Drive Unit Performance CX

Thanks, but already done with a different equation method. Of course the 1000 watt peak I mentioned doesn't reflect the continuous practical net power even with the efficiency loss taken into account. The actual net output power is 565 watts. .
