    pedelecs banned from UK event...

From our educated point of view it possibly is short-sighted, and there could be various reasons: It could simply be lack of understanding, the commonly used but inaccurate term Electric Bikes is misleading, inferring they are electrically driven and not merely assisted. It could be for...

    pedelecs banned from UK event...

Clearly yes, the meaning of non-powered cycles means just that. If they meant motorcycles they'd have said that. It's their event, and they can set the rules for taking part, the law doesn't come into it. .

Pedelecs frum makes me feel sick

It might appear that way and I see the logic of your argument. However, in UK electrified bicycle usage law there are no pedelecs or e-bikes, there are only EAPCs (Electric Assist Pedal Cycles). The only mention of the word pedelec in our law is in the Two and Three Wheeled Motor Vehicle Type...

Pedelecs frum makes me feel sick

Indeed, early in the forum's life, some 38% of the members owned a Torq and most of them had the derestriction link disconnected to get assist to 22 mph on the flat with no headwind. Typically back then, any higher assist speeds reached were mostly about 18 to 20 mph and motor power ratings...

    Power levels and cadence..

Yes, though for me it feels the other way around to get the same effect. It's when the e-power is low that I'm tempted to get into the bad habit of slogging at slower cadences and have to resist that. With the power raised there's no need to do that so I happily spin at higher cadences. .

How best to look after second hand battery - charging advice please

Here's one way. If you are using Windows, hold down Ctrl and hit the + key three or four times, depending on the browser you're using. This expands the text until you only see the text on screen with the sides hidden. Hold down Ctrl and hit the - key the same number of times to return to...

How best to look after second hand battery - charging advice please

Yes, you can top up at any time if intending a long ride, lithium batteries are cyclic types which are suitable for recharging when only part used. Once you know what range you can get, unless intending a long ride needing all the charge, wait until you've done about a third of the range before...

How best to look after second hand battery - charging advice please

You definitely don't need to empty the Cyclamatic battery, but do charge the battery every month to avoid it dying due to cell voltages dropping too low. The behaviour of the handlebar LEDs under load is normal, but I don't know if this battery's top display button operates. Hopefully a...

Upgrades, modifications & changes you should have made sooner.

Me too, the best addition ever for any bike. I should have added one to all my bikes, many decades earlier. .

    Electric brompton is coming soon?

Ah, the Electric Brompton. It brings to mind some other things I'd still have liked to have seen, the Gryphon, the Loch Ness Monster, the lost city of Atlantis. .

Pedelecs frum makes me feel sick

I must support you here Eddie, since he once very long ago did the same to me, demanding I remove a post I'd made which he disagreed with. Obviously I refused the dictatorial demand which infuriated him, provoking a savage response full of false accusations. This is not the first time Dave has...

Pedelecs frum makes me feel sick

I agree on the need for politeness Bob. When I joined this forum as its first member ten years ago, quickly becoming a key member, I tried hard to set a standard of courtesy and good mannered discussion from the outset. For a very long time that was successful and the high standard of this...

When the S pedelecs were all 250 watts there was a rough range ratio for identical models with the two Panasonic units. The standard version giving 30 miles range on it's 10 Ah battery with a given user, the S version 25 miles. .

Completely agree, it could be said David Cameron is being dishonest too, since not too long ago he was preaching that the UK could get on fine outside of the EU. I just dislike the dishonesty from each and every one of them. .

    L1e-A testing requirements

They didn't as far as I knew, so were not Low Powered Mopeds. I don't think anyone ever made a Low Powered Moped, so it was really a redundant class. There were no L1 classes back then, there was only Low Powered Moped (up to 1000 watts and limited to 15 mph) and the familiar and popular 30...
