    Let's keep the throttle!

Did what you read say what the point of it was? I could somewhat understand it being the pedelec 25 kph point, but the new point of 20 kph seems to have no purpose. .

Folding or regular, prebuilt or converted...advice appreicated !!

Taking off my cynical hat for a moment, if the objective is to get people out of cars riding bikes there is a some sense in this imbalance. It's the higher paid who are more able to afford to use a car, pay congestion charges, parking charges and the like who are the least likely to adopt a...

    Smart ebike out of production?

Nice looking bike and I think the Yamaha central motor is a better and neater implementation than the latest Bosch unit. .

    Let's keep the throttle!

I'll certainly be interested to know, but I'm unable to understand what possible point such a measure would have. It equates to 19 kph which is even more odd for a European measure. .

    CHAIN SUCK CURED BY FILING

Yes, that's a guaranteed solution since it is the hooking that causes the problem. The problem is very real on the new Bosch unit with it's small chainwheel, due to the much higher wear rate at that size. .

    Let's keep the throttle!

Not that I'm aware of, and I couldn't see the point of that limit if throttles are permitted at any speed, as they are on the S class. It was an accidental outcome on the Panasonic units if fitted to an S class unit it wasn't intended for, even on the old units when BikeTech first introduced...

    Let's keep the throttle!

That's it exactly David. As you know the e-bike regulations new or old say nothing about walk-alongside throttles, they are only accidentally legal due to the 1963 Pedestrian Controlled Vehicle legislation. It was BikeTech who make the Flyer e-bikes in Switzerland who appear to have twigged...

How difficult it is to detach, open and grease panasonic crank motor?

Two possibilities Rauw. First is the idler wheel that follows the motor drive sprocket, these can become distorted or misaligned in various ways so that the chain runs badly under the motor thrust following each pedal stroke. It's surprising how often that can produce a growling noise that...

How difficult it is to detach, open and grease panasonic crank motor?

Yes, see my post here on this link Rauw. As you'll see you don't need to open it up. .

    Panasonic/Kalkhoff crank play

If you only want to grease the internal gears you don't have to do any of that stripping down. You don't even have to remove the unit from the bike. First turn over the bike, then just remove the four bolts holding the motor onto the left side of the crankcase and pull off the motor. You'll...

    Does bicycle weight really matter?

Indeed, fit them inboard if the outer bar parts aren't available. These were featherweight BikeHut ones from Halfords:

Which is more ethical - Woosh or Cyclotrocity?

There are some custom frame companies who make frames to order, but that's largely it. All other bike and e-bike parts have to be imported, and that's mainly from China. There's the odd manufacturers of hubs and rims in Germany and a chainring maker in France. We do have some British makers...

Are you thinking of opening your unit to grease the gear? If so, let me know and I'll save you a lot of time and effort. .

Quarter of All E-Bike Batteries Faulty

I suppose it's a question of what is considered faulty. Take my experience of the earliest lithium manganese batteries which were poor. I had them fail on hills as early as three months, but used only on the flat they would keep going but the range had dropped considerably. But of course the...

    Let's keep the throttle!

No David, that usage falls into the pedestrian controlled vehicle legislation. That specifies a maximum speed of 4 mph (6kph in the EU, which is 3.6 mph) and the power must only be there when held on by the pedestrian. Hence the thumb throttle. There is a weight limit of 400 kilos, which...

Quarter of All E-Bike Batteries Faulty

The link isn't working, but here's a new one to the source. Not just Bosch of course, the article reveals the false belief that these batteries will last many years. We've long known that's not the case. It's a fundamental problem for e-bikes, since for weight reasons they have to have...

    E-marked bicycle tyres

You don't need e-marked ones, all makers have suitable ones. For example, this is what Schwalbe tyres say about this: Do you need special tyres for e-bikes? For standard pedelecs with pedal assistance up to 25 km/h no specific tyres are stipulated by the legislators. But the loads and...

    Let's keep the throttle!

A manufactured vehicle to the intended L1e regulations can be, but that type approval law isn't finalised until 1st January 2017, so they can take another year to dot the i's and t's. Also that law and it's date rulings don't apply to SVA, it's solely for manufactured vehicles. .

Has anyone sought single vehicle approval and insurance, for a 250-1000w 15.5mph ebike?

I've already told you in a previous post yesterday! This class has always existed, but called Low Powered Moped, so that's what can be used meanwhile. You might not like it's conditions, but that's not the issue, the class is there and has been for many years. Anyway you don't even need...

    Let's keep the throttle!

That was in the draft regulation, it now appears a number plate may be necessary after all, but we'll have to wait until the law is finalised to find out. .
