    Chain length

Evening All, (to coin a very old phrase ;-) ) In the interest of saving me from getting very oily hands, does anyone happen to know roughly what length chain I need for a Haibike full sus bike? I'm just wondering if I can get away with a standard Shimano 114 link job, or do I need to get 2 of...

    Haibike - minor woe

Hi All, I've got an ageing Haibike Xduro (2012) which still basically works OK, except it now only has 3 assist levels instead of 4. The Sport and Turbo modes are exactly the same, and I think I've lost the Turbo mode. Not the end of the world, but if anyone's got ideas for a (quick and...

    Bosch battery re-celling

Morning all. Does anyone know of somewhere to get an 8AH Bosch battery (older type, from a 2012 model Haibike) re-celled? I'd like to avoid forking out for a complete new battery if possible. I have tried an aftermarket Chinese-made battery from Germany which is ok, but is supposed to be 10.4...

    EddieO R.I. P.

Very sad news today that Eddie O'Callaghan (EddieO on this forum until he spoke his mind once too often) died last night. He had been in poor health for a long time, although still motorhoming and e-biking, but became seriously ill with secondary cancer early this year and went into hospital a...

    Cream - crackered :-)

Just back from 40 mile ride that took in ascent and descent of Mt Ventoux and used up 2 batteries. Mainly on Tour mode (Bosch 2nd out of 4 modes) with a bit of Sport on the really bad bits. Going uphill for 14 miles or so is clearly hard on the battery :-(. Max 39 mph coming down as it was very...

    R.i.p.

R.I.P. Richard Ballantine - his Bicycle Book was a 70's/80's icon (sorry about the heavily overused word, but it's right in this case) and encouraged many people to take up cycling, continue doing it, and not least, have some idea about how to fix their bikes.

    Spring at last !

Just had a very pleasant hour and a half on the Thames path between Woolwich and Erith. Sunny, breezy, flowers flowering, trees treeing - all very acceptable. 17.5 miles at average of exactly 15 mph on low/medium assistance. 3 cheers for Haibike and Bosch.

    Haibike Bosch chainset removal

Hi Chaps, I've been trying (and failing :() to remove the crank arm and chainset on my Haibike in order to try running a larger chainring. I've discovered I need one of these Park Tool Co. » CCP-44 : Crank Puller for Splined Cranks : Crank Tools to remove the crank - it's not the old...

    E-bike kits - availability

G'day All, I'm thinking (still) about electrifying my Cannondale. I want a nice stealthy setup as far as possible, and was very interested in the Oxygen kit for this reason. BUT, it's currently out of stock with a 2 month wait. Eddie's Daahub setup also sounds good, apart from the slightly...

    Cannondale and 8Fun

Morning Chaps, does anyone know if the 8Fun bottle kit with 26'' wheel as here (8F26F36B | 26" Electric Bike Conversion Kit | 36V 250W Motor, 36V Li-ion Water Bottle Type Battery with Panasonic cells) will fit a Cannondale front fork without any grief? The Cytronex thread recently made me...

    Warming up a Kalkhoff

I'm hoping for a bit of technical advice here..... Following the link posted by Eddie a couple of days back (below), I was intrigued to see Panasonic 300w motors, plus 14 tooth motor sprockets and larger chainwheels (though these have now gone again). So, if, (hypothetically of...

    Izip battery - testing

Afternoon All, somebody's interested in buying my old Izip Trekking Enlightened. Problem is, it was out of action for ages while I struggled to get a replacement rear wheel and motor, and when I then tried to use it, the battery kept cutting out and then cutting in after a bit, before giving...

    Treacherous Kalkhoff Pro Connect S

Hi All, I've emailed 50 Cycles about the following, but if anyone here has any bright ideas, I'd be very grateful. I bought a Pro Connect S last year (November) and have been using it regularly since April for my commute, without trouble. It's now done just over 1,000 miles, and until last...
