June 22, 20241 yr Yesterday went a 5 hour round trip to collect my bike and replacement battery. Rode 5 miles BEFORE coming home to make sure it worked. Took off battery Put bike in car Came home This morning put battery on bike, NOTHING I have TWO identical setups, tried battery on other bike NOTHING SWEARING ANY ideas, thanks YES fully charged.
June 22, 20241 yr Author Did you switch battery on? Try other battery. I have 2 identical bike setups as I said other battery is fine "I have TWO identical setups, tried battery on other bike NOTHING "
June 22, 20241 yr Author This is what I emailed the supplier After a LOT of swearing............................. Having taken the battery off the bike to go in the boot yesterday this morning after putting it on the bike NOTHING. No display, I thought badly seated, tried everything. I am glad I have TWO identical bike setups. The OTHER battery 100% NO problem and rode the bike 14 miles. Tried the new battery on the OTHER bike, same thing NOTHING.

You're suffering the result of bad karma. Try this: Only say nice things to people, even when they don't deserve it. Help a few old ladies across the road. Go down the town centre and give some money to poor or homeless people. Rescue a bumblebee from the footpath. Stop eating red meat. After about 2 weeks, your battery should start working again.
June 22, 20241 yr Have you checked the battery voltage out put ? Always a first port of call to ensure fuse is intact.
June 22, 20241 yr Author Have you checked the battery voltage out put ? Always a first port of call to ensure fuse is intact. No as I have no way to What do you need and what do you do thanks
June 22, 20241 yr A voltage meter , simply turn the dial to DC 200v and probe the +/- output of the battery . It should give the battery voltage reading.

June 22, 20241 yr Yes either will be fine , the DC scale is the white scale to the LHS of the dial. As with all meters DC LHA , AC RHS.
June 22, 20241 yr Author Thanks But when it arrives what the heck do I do, how do I know + - etc There are 2 + and 2 - what would I do thanks Edited June 22, 20241 yr by Saracen
June 22, 20241 yr Measure between either '+' and either '-' as the two '+' are connected together internally as are the '-'.
June 22, 20241 yr Take a reading from the outer marked +/-, it doesn't matter which way around the meter probes go in. In fact do the test by swapping the probes over to learn how correct polarity works, when the polarity reading is wrong you will see the voltage reading with a minus in front of it.
June 22, 20241 yr If you're new to electrics don't use the meter terminal marked 10A / mA10A yet. With a battery, work slowly in good light in a comfortable position, and if anything isn't what you expect take a moment to think it through or read up. Maybe steady both hands on a surface and move one probe at a time like a pen. A battery's costly so if I were the supplier I'd walk you through every step in minute detail before considering replacing it. A headcam video could make short work of that. Good luck.
June 23, 20241 yr Thanks But when it arrives what the heck do I do, how do I know + - etc There are 2 + and 2 - what would I do thanks looks like someone has been in there with a flat blade screwdriver to 'adjust' the inner 2 terminals a little more than the outside 2?? though it could be a camera angle/light thing?? ebike volt meters are a thing and at about a fiver might be a better buy than a multimeter if battery testing is its only job.. just be mindful a cheap volt meter may not be as tolerant as a multimeter when it comes to polarity so just remember as a rule red is positive black is negative
June 23, 20241 yr This is what I emailed the supplier Having taken the battery off the bike to go in the boot yesterday this morning after putting it on the bike NOTHING. Who is your battery supplier? The terminals look blackened. It's best to turn the battery off before sliding it into or out of the battery mount, else there's a spark, which blackens terminals. I use a very tiny drop of 99.9% isopropyl alcohol on a bit of thin folded tissue paper or cotton bud to clean those battery contacts, and the contacts on the mount. Liberally use too much, and you risk isopropyl leaking into the case. My similar looking BBS01B kit battery measures 0V at those terminals when switched off. looks like someone has been in there with a flat blade screwdriver to 'adjust' the inner 2 terminals a little more than the outside 2?? though it could be a camera angle/light thing?? I think you're right. The inner two contacts do look adjusted. Edited June 23, 20241 yr by guerney

June 23, 20241 yr It may be best to set the meter aside for now then and write up symptoms in gory detail, they'll be needed for a refund or exchange. Like so: Summary: charged battery seems dead because bike display doesn't come on. Blue bike : battery 36V 15Ah serial 123, controller 36V 7/14A, these work together Black bike .... (as above) .... Fault demo sequence (test 1 of 2, new battery with black bike): 1) Battery 456 is not fitted, charge indicator shows 3 green lights, then battery is switched off. 2) Fit battery to black bike, switch it on, its charge indicator shows 3 green lights. 3) Bike display is off, press On button for 1 second, display flickers then stays off, expected it to stay on. Test 2 of 2, older battery with black bike: 1) Battery 123 .... As you're new to electrics the charge indicator says as much as a meter would without giving the shop a reason to quibble. You could try out the meter once you've written agreement to a replacement.
June 23, 20241 yr A meter check is simple it rules in or rules out a fuse issue and confirms whether voltage is reaching the discharge on a generic battery. One assumes the batteyr has a switch and it is being turned on. My PSWPower battery has a hidden rocker switch under the carry handle , it is easy to forget about it. Some vendors may ask if voltage is seen/measured on the discharge pins. Edited June 23, 20241 yr by Nealh

June 23, 20241 yr Author WOW !!!!!!!!!!! Blasted amazing, I have learned so much £8, and it worked, thanks for telling me HOW, it was a lose connection on the 4th terminal thing, I closed the gap and amazing, thanks again
