I tried Finnish/Swedish/Norwegian but it is in fact Afrikaans! :) Unlike you I dont suffer from illusions of grandeur (you dope)

i'll keep on until either you shut up (unlikely) OR the thread gets pulled and you disappear from view.....

(please no more "thanks Eddie!" my inbox cant take the strain)
Dutch was almost right then and its not an illusion for me I'm afraid.

If a newcomer views these posts it will certainly make him or her think twice about ever posting. The fear of ridicule and abuse.

To keep the forum membership fresh, ever changing in veiwpoint and growing in numbers, existing members should refrain from these personal attacks.

I'm trying to Herb, but some won't let it go and insist on dishing out the insult's. Which, I've only done in my own defence. It was only reading the nasty comments that brought me here in the first place.

Je ne suis pas venu voir des conneries pareilles; moi, je préfère bien rigoler.
I apologise if I am in any way responible for spoiling your enjoyment. I should know better than rising to the bait. Maybe clearing the air was what was needed for all involved. Hopefully that will be the end of it and the forum can move on. I'll monitor for the time being and only come in where my input may be useful.

It is my hope and belief than any member should be able to express an opinion without abuse.

I stand by my previous comments

I think I've logged on to the 'pedantics' rather than 'pedelecs' forum, or perhaps it's the 'pedantic pedelecs' ;)

Possibly precisely predictable presumptuous pedantic pedelecs prevail presently.

You missed the commas. :D

Or are you running Linux with Firefox?

Thanks, I was struggling to "contribute" to this thread.

I did intend it as a contigous sentence, hence no commas.

Not Linux, I'm running my own Speedos Express operating system, a version of Windows XP which has some rewritten code and much rubbish removed from within it's files. Windows 524 mB, whole system C drive including 50 programs 903 mB:

Flecc, That looks impressive. Never heard of that one before. Im just running the usual Microsoft bloatware -XP and the ultra secure IE6

So before anyone else says it Flecc works in Speedos. :D

:D No, I've crossed that one before in this connection!

That brand name is Speedo, Speedos is a plural in their context.

THe SPEEDOS Systems name is my creation, the name originally applied to my first Window 98 based system, and made up of Speed and the DOS which is incorporated in W.98.

That was my best online system in many ways as it needed no anti-virus or firewall since infection or successful attack was impossible. There was an article in PC Answers about it at the time

Progress in software being what it is, I eventually had to move onto the later NT based system to have full program availability.

I am saddened

Do you know what guys - I am saddened.. (I'm inebriated too, but that's another story).

I posted about my personal circumstances and received some really appreciated feedback(and offers). Just the kind of reasoned support that I have become accustomed to in this forum.

I have read this thread with an ever increasing sense of despondency. The levels of personal abuse are so at odds with what I believed our (fledgling?) community to be, that I kept hoping the thread would end. It didn't and it hasn't (and no, the irony of my post is not lost on me..)

For my own observation (and please don't take this as personal), the systematic abuse of the possessive apostrophe in this thread is unforgivable.
I have no observations to make on the remainder, save to say that I am mourning the unexpected loss of an old friend (no, really), and am not at my best or most charitable......

Or it would seem, most lucid :-(

Cheers, Nick

One down one to go... Touch my Cytronex and I'll strangle you with your own nostril hairs :-D
