Did a search on here for these and there is not a lot about stands.

Anyway I found one of these from Tesco Direct.

Not bad at £74.99 incl discount code for epurchase. You can also get free delivery if you have it delivered to you local store :p

It looks sturdy and actually seems to have quite a good base (many only have two legs) and a decent jaws clamp etc.

Being Tesco if I hate it I can return it. Halfords also have one which I might get if I hate this one.

The Cytronex has so much gubbins on the handle bars you can't really turn it upside down and rest it on its handle bars and seat.

I will report back when it arrives.

Regards

This will do me as well.....

the other thing I was thinking of, can you get a bracket to attach to a garage roof joist? as this could take up less room.

You can get ones to fit on the wall but then you can't get round from both sides. Slung from the joist you can rig up something but then it will tend to sway.

I spent quite a while looking round but at this price range most seem a little flimsy fold up jobs, some with very poor quality jaw clamps. The one is Halfords falls into this category and the guy there said quite alot of people complained they were weak.

This one doesn't fold up but seems to have a stronger base. For me space is not a problem as I have a larger workshop.

As I said I will report back once I get it this one from Tesco.

Jerry - I find the only thing that gets in the way on the 7.3 is the LED lamp. It is adjustable and you can push it down a bit so it's clear but still usable. To get the front wheel off the ground (for adjusting the brake cut outs) I use a couple of high backed chairs (one each side of the handlebars). I don't do repairs on the road - 4 mile commutes aren't a big deal - I use my legs and carry a mobile phone on longer rides.

Yes I notice that the led light is in the way. I wasn't aware you can adjust it to move it out the way. I guess my commute is only 5.5 miles each way so as you say its no great shakes.

I have a couple of other bikes as well though, which I want to sort out now I have the bike bug again and the stand makes it so much easier than having to bend down with my old back

Totally agree. Anything like that is always a good long term investment. I pulled something in my back that gave me some jip for about a week a couple of weeks ago. I reckon that was losing control reinverting the bike (no damage to the bike though - phew!).

Yep inverting and re-inverting your bike will do that if you lose your grip

Having injured my back quite badly a few years ago I am now very cautious.

I see that this will be fine for the 905, but will it accommodate a step through frame as well do you think? does the clamp fixing lower down at all?

Here's another way I've used for dealing with protection of all the handlebar gubbins, out on the road as well for puncture repairs.
I've found that the kick stand on m X-byke is great for puncture repairs, the bike seesaws on it so one wheel is always clear of the ground. You can hang something on the handle bars to work on the back wheel, and on the luggage rack to lift the front.

Jerry, Kingsway cycles in Cambridge appear to be advertising the same Velomann workstand for £59.95 on ebay. So maybe you could check it out in person and support a lbs in to the bargain :)

Wow you have an eagle eye. I never saw that on ebay. Great price. I actually collected the one from Tesco and have started to put it together. If I like it I may take it back and then pop into Cambridge (which is local to me) and pick up one of those cheaper ones.

Without the internet saving code thats almost £20 cheaper. Its amazing how much prices vary for the same product. Its also very annoying

Thanks for all those that replied.,

Pity they don't price match - at least as far as I'm aware.
