You mean .... horror of horrors ;-).... you've gone front motored!?!
Only with the 906, using a Japanese made front motor. This doesn't replace the 905 series which will continue in parallel, giving customers the choice.

Hi Eddeio

Wonderful news, I think you are the first to have a pair, I would love a photo of you both on your bikes when you get the 705se. The ETA is 10th April but we can be more accurate nearer the time.

No not twin motors on this one, it is for the UK and they wanted street legal. The bike is the 906 which will be launched later in the year. It has the 8 speed Alfine hub gearbox and Alfine disk brakes.

All the best David
Thanks David! We are oft for a tour along the Loire valley for a week at Whitsun, so should be some good photo opportunity's then...

Then to Switzerland and Italy in the summer......would have liked to take them to Goa with us at Easter but probably to hot! lol

This latest 705SE has the same capacity battery as the 905SE is that correct? and still retains a throttle? have gone for this as similar performance is ideal.

Will this be a better performance bike then the 905?

tha Alfina gears I just noticed have no dangly bits at the back:confused: ...So thats good is it?

internal hub gears? cleaner more reliable? less maintenance? But will it climb hills better!

I'm assuming the main difference is to make fleet maintenance easier and to be a little more abuse resistant. Despite the front motor gear options have been restricted further, the hub gears are not as efficient as derailers though I don't know if that makes a significant difference.
The biggest problem that I can see for police riders is they won't be able to wheely it around the car park. :D

We don't know any real answers on that Dapush front motor yet, though Wisper are very pleased with it's climb ability and it's undergone hill climb trials in New Zealand where they know all about hills.

The Alfine is Shimano's top of the range hub gear and more efficient than earlier models, and of course it's more maintenance free than derailleurs and less vulnerable.

Basically the 906 will be a high end bike, more expensive than the 905 series and aimed at those wanting the best.

Vikki...............The crucial question remains to be answered: Do they have the little green button or has it gone
Hi Torrent, absolutely not! The 905 will be our main bike for years to come and will improve along with technological advances in batteries and motors etc. I believe rear wheel drive to be superior, marginally if the balance is right but still superior.

The 906 is currently an experiment and although it will be on the market later in the year we will only make 500 in 2009. The reason we are experimenting with the design is we have been asked by many people including police forces to do so. We have fitted Shimano Alfine 8 speed gear box, which allows us to play with the gear ratios and also enables gears to be changed whilst the bike is at a standstill. We have also upgraded to Alfine rear and front disk brakes, top of the range eyeleted AlexRims and Nexus bearings all of which are very expensive. The rest of the bike is the exactly same. But because of the additional equipment the bike will retail at about £400 more than the 905.

Sorry Vikki the containers coming in in April will be the last with the off road button factory fitted.

Best regards David

Absolutely, Mussels.

Your clips have just arrived from China to replace the one that was broken on your pannier.

I will pop a couple in the post this evening.

Hi Flecc

You, as always, have hit the nail on the head, we have had a few bikes bought by companies, police and town councils as pool bikes, these are the people who predominantly want to see the upgrades. Having ridden the 906 in China last month it feels very similar to the 905. The steering is certainly a little heavier, but the gear changing is great especially when stopping at traffic lights. The main point of these changes as Mussels has pointed out is low maintenance.

The new Dapush motor and controller are great but need to be tested and certified for the new EC regulations hence the delay in launch. However Bafang are launching a new 250w motor very soon so we will be looking at that with great interest. We already have their new 500w brushless hi efficiency motor on trial for the US and Canada, now that is a great motor, shame we can't use it here.

Best regards David

Yes more and more Police forces are trying them out now including the Royal Bahamas Police Force, Douglas has bagged that trip!

Here is the first Surrey Police Force Bobby on his bike, he is managing 20 miles a day compared with a non electric push bike where he was only acheiving 10, to that double the "seeing and being seen" every day.

And here is the new paint job mock up for the Wisper Police bike to be launched this year.

a lot of thought went into designing the bikes for the police ! paint police on your battery and you can join the club...not stopping at lights etc. legally !! :D

looks like North Wales Police again. I am not surprised this constabulary prefers e-bikes as even for the fittest coppers the terrain must be hard going on a normal bike..
