Ministers have ordered an emergency plan, with fears that coronavirus will cause China to shut down for months, leaving Britain without goods that are manufactured there.

Great comment on Twitter
Just remember that when you get the urge to pop bubble wrap, the air has come from China.

My reaction
With This Government interfering with the NHS
This is likely to prove not to be a problem, not enough of us will be left that there isn't enough junk to go round.
Have they only just noticed?

It has been obvious for weeks.

Does it include Huawei 5G kit?

There will still need to be paperwork... Mail says BJ is still pushing another bridge:

The Prime Minister (left, mocked up in a top hat), who is keen to sanction a series of grand infrastructure projects as a legacy of his rule, is about to receive the results of a feasibility study into the construction of a combined bridge and tunnel connection at the narrowest, 20-mile gap between Northern Ireland and the British mainland. One version of the plan would be modelled on the Oresund Bridge, which runs for five miles from the Swedish coast near Malmo to an artificial island in the middle of the Oresund Strait.

"mocked up in a top hat" - mis-print, should read: mocked in a top hat or anything else he wears.
Word alignment on my screen has "feasibility" right above "gap". That just about sums it up.

“By getting rid of red tape we can create new opportunities for British businesses to sell their produce around the world.”

@ConorBurnsUK on DIT’s success helping @naylorsfarm get their cabbages into Malaysia as we work to lower market access barriers. https://bit.ly/3bi78lb

In reality

From 21 Oct 2019 (NB. UK was still in EU): "Our fresh vegetables are now available across 29 Jaya Grocer stores in #Malaysia! Delicious potatoes, onions, broccoli and our famously CRUNCHY cabbages" #CabbageGate #BrexitOpportunities #WeAreWatching

You have to wonder why they have to lie so much and so often!

And the icing on this particular cake is yet to come..............................

WTO 30% tariff for Malaysia vs EU tariff free...

Bonkers when we can't produce more than half what we need to feed ourselves.

And how would vegetable sales produce remotely enough export income to survive?

Further to my earlier post, it seems the government doesn't understand the maxim
On the Internet nothing can ever be forgotten

I've saved the Dept for International Trade's "cabbages to Malaysia" tweet, because they've now deleted it. Feel free to retweet what must be one of the most desperate and stupid official govt. tweets this side of North Korea.

So funny..
And now Boris is trying to Delete Brexit too

Unfortunately he will come to understand someday

In the real world nothing can be forgotten, or forgiven

Which is likely to be not funny, but tragic.

Know something? noting of interest here is there?
Who cares what the Labour party does? you should be watching what your hero's are up to, the latest stunt is to lower the income requirements for a immigrant's job from £30, 000 to £26,500
With the clear intention of tempting foreigners in in preference to our own kids.

Brilliant plan! reserve our own children for use as cheap labour?
Our Youth are going to like that "Bigly"
Ah well, when people are stupid enough to vote Conservative what do you get?

Something you never voted for,
Not a good start Boris

Absolutely, What has prompted that response? I thought I made it abundantly clear that I don’t approve of what the government is doing, sorry but I don’t know what you are getting at, Does that look like I’m Approving of Brexit or something?
For the life of me I can’t see what made you come to that conclusion
For the moment the best thing the Labour Party could do is to boycott Parliament altogether and leave it to become the one party state it now is rather than lend their support to the tottering edifice.

However as we all know that won't happen, they will mutter away in the background achieving nothing at all. powerless to do anything but look pathetic.
We deserve a better way to run the country than one run on the basis of which party are best at lying to the public.

This Mail headlinpeople e has produced a furious spate of reader responses
"
Boris Johnson faces Tory backlash over claims Budget could include new 'mansion tax' and pensions raid to fund public spending splurge
  • Cuts to pension tax relief also being looked at by PM and Chancellor Sajid Javid
  • Extra tax on expensive properties has been referred to as 'recurring wealth tax'
  • One possible version of tax is added council tax band for more expensive houses
Apparently most of the expressed ire is aimed at the fact that Boris has had to become "socialist" because vast hordes of Labour voters have leant him their votes and he is afraid of losing their support?

Boris is being seen as the "New Corbyn?" the honeymoon hasn't lasted long, has it?
And the blame is laid squarely on those dastardly and treacherous labour voters that voted for him and led him astray.

Great fun : we are getting to the stage where we need a new words along the lines of "Xenophobia" to describe voters who should know their place and vote for the Labour party, but in upstart fashion vote Conservative and pollute the purity of purpose of those "born to rule"

Brexit is without doubt the worst mistake we have made this far.

Ireland
The IRA have done very well in the Irish election.
Unfortunately there might be some truth there. And in a real sense Brexit did not help. Government and the main opposition party has being playing a blinder regarding Ireland's position post Brexit, but there is an assumption that it is under the bridge water, meanwhile the housing situation has hurt the younger generation . Again many of these younger people cannot remember a time when there was not peace, and are naïve enough to think SF is a normal political party.
Having said that SF have plenty of very attractive social policies.
It has also been a very good election for the GREENs
But you need to understand that our PR system will ensure that SF get about 25% of the seats and will in no way be the majority

The latest stunt of the Ministry of Truth is to blame the Monkey even when the Organ Grinder is in the room
From the Telegraph
"
Sajid Javid’s ‘half-baked’ plans for mansion tax and pensions reform risk causing huge losses for savers
Abolition of higher-rate tax relief on pensions would be 'an act of fiscal hooliganism' and savers would suffer huge losses, experts say

Obviously they are unwilling to blame Boris as well!

Javid will get the boot in a few weeks time. The man is way out of his depth, selected for things other than his ability. Now I wonder what that might be?
