Could you give me your opinion on this kit?

At the local VAP shop there is one next to an 18650, they are huge! In fact it is an optical illusion, the extra 5 mm length makes them seem much fatter too when they are only 3 mm fatter and 3 mm isn't all that much.

I like the look of this kit, I inquired to woosh last Autumn for a kit for my surly bridge club, I nearly ordered one, but the aesthetics of the extra wiring and the large battery just made me hesitate and as yet I have held back.
I also looked at the cryonex which is very neat, but the range is just too low, so this has piqued my interest.
I will convert my bike this spring, it's just what kit to use???

Edit: just measured it: 50mm.
thx for measuring.
HHmm.... so it does not fit 10-11-12 speed cause the chainline would be to bent, ****. Maybe the crank without the controller but keep the torque-sensor-unit the chain-line could go down to 45mm ?
It seem´s I need my colleagues to send me one of those for testing;)

Whitworth Lancs.

That's all there is to this kit.

It's a pretty high quality build, Hollowtech crankset, torque sensing. The whole thing as you see on the picture weighs 1,023grs on my scales.

I have been riding around town with it for a month.
I absolutely love it. The whole thing is virtually silent, no creaking noise whatsoever.
I find that I just use the gears instead of changing assist levels on an LCD.

Would you pay £120 for it? My first thought was it's pretty expensive for a controller as all donor bikes have already got a crankset. But then, I love its minimalist approach. I would pay it but would you?
Hi Tony. I have a Q100C cst 36v 350W rear hub motor with a SO6s controller. Would this piece of kit be a direct replacement for my controller ? If it meant getting rid of my controller then I would be definitely interested.
Thks.
Bill.

Hi Bill,

Yes and no. It's plug-in compatible with your 9-pin motor cable but the rating of the controller is 15A max, not enough to make full use of your 350W.
You need 17A-18A controller.
It works very well with the ordinary Bafang SWXH with Hall and also with MXUS XF07, MXUS XF08C.
The factory is on holiday at the moment. I'll ask them later if they can up the Amps.

I can confirm that this kit will be in stock from April, in both 36V and 48V, with and without LCD.

Is amperage for both the same ?
BCD still 135 so do we think a double can be made to work ?

Sounds good can see me going for a 48v if a double set up can work.
Are you sourcing 34t or 36t chain ring ?

135 is Compag territory and 39t is the smallest they offer.

I have been talking to a supplier of chainrings in China but not bought any yet.

My wife is making noises about converting her bike again. She tried a torque sensing setup (Forme PT2 ELS) the other day and liked it, so it will be a tossup between this kit or a Tongsheng for her Liv Rove.
A double chainring is an absolute must for her.
Any news as to when the kit will become available? - it's nearly April now!

Looks a neat solution. Is there a fat bike version for the wider BB shell?
Hi Mike,

no, it does seem there is an obvious gap in the market for it but I think they supply small volume OEMs at the moment.
They have just let me know that they can't supply the 48V version yet. I paid them two months ago!

Single ring will be totally fine if you match it up with something like this:
11-42 tooth
and you'll have loads of range. Mountain bikes have been using single rings for a while now so there's plenty of options for 11-42 cassettes.

If you're feeling a bit flush you can go up to 11 speed 11-46...
11-46 tooth

You'd need a good derailleur and shifter set up to go with it though.

Want one, want one NOW! (or at least in the next couple of weeks so I can convert the wife's bike before we go on holiday in early June).

Any news on when the torque crank is likely to be available?
