Cytronex Powered Cannondal Super Six Ultegra

Just one quick post as we are about to leave for a long weekend on our Cytronex powered tandem but noticed this thread so thought I had better just clarify what the new bike is about.

This bike was actually designed for the Gadget Show, it will broadcast on 16th November at 8pm on Channel 5 and is a race between a presenter on this bike and a top pro cyclist (Russell Downing). Can't tell you what happens as I am sworn to secrecy but it was exciting.

We decided to produce the model because it looks so good and rides beautifully (plus I wanted one). It weighs 12.9 Kg all up and includes a top of the range computer and lights.

Just to clarify the annoying dental shop problem - we do have two internet shops which are both hosted on the same domain, which sometimes causes technical difficulties (someone once asked whether our bikes were powered by electric toothbrush!). They are being split onto separate domains within the next week so after that this should never happen again. Until then if you go through Cytronex Electric Bike System - electric bicycles with hidden power assistance and click on models you will get to the cycle site.

However, does anyone need an electric toothbrush ....

Mark

PS Has anyone seen the review in December's Wired Magazine - there is a review of the Capo, Wisper 906, Urban Mover UM36X and Infineum Extreme. I think you will find the data on speed interesting! Must dash ...

I can't see the reference to the 13.6 kg weight (but could easily have missed it). Are you sure you're not confusing it with the Capo?
Quite right, it's half way between out two original figures. Their various sites, nohills, cytronex, modern times etc are such a tangle that I got messages crossed twice in looking at various models. I'm glad Mark has said the sites are to be sorted out, at one time a short while ago one of their sites was only showing the 2008 long discontinued models and one of them is still shown on the nohills site as we approach 2010!

Yes I got myself into a muddle too. I also found a page of special offers and was getting excited - until I discovered the special offer prices were exactly the same as the standard prices.

I'm waiting for them to announce a toothbrush fitted with a 156Wh battery and a Tongxin motor :D

LOL. They still have teething problems. Looks like they got to the root of the matter though. :D

Look forward to seeing the bike on the Gadget show.

They should have a "plaque" made commemorating the fastest/lightest bike.
I expect they'll chew on the idea... :D

BTW Mark - congratulations on the gadget show gig!

Mark I am not worried as it always gives me a giggle when I post the link :p

Mark, Just to let you know - following the Models link from the Cytronex site currently points towards the dental site.

Anyone ever been accused of cheating for using an electric toothbrush?

As an aside I was looking at paint scratches/rubbing on the bottom of my bottle from the steel bottle frame holder :(

Surely if the bottle frame holder was plastic coated this would not happen ?

Just a simple design change recommendation Mark :p

It must be your browser setup as that link takes me to the page showing the bike

Maybe try it in another browser firefox or iexplorer whichever one you are not using.

It may be you're operating behind a caching proxy server. I wont pretend to understand what that means but I believe the effect is that sometimes, when websites change you don't immediately get to see the changes.

I'm not seeing toothbrushes any more...

Pedalo is right as the page definately redirects so that might be your problem.

Ok I just tried it in internet explorer and it goes to a dental page. In Firefox it works perfectly and displays details about the bike :D

We run a web cache here at work but even refreshing in explorer still displays the dental page.

The Super six is a great bike but my tastes and requirements are a lot less demanding and expensive. I'm quite taken with the idea of converting the Trek District, belt driven single speed which would make an interesting commuter bike:) . Is there any news on the conversion kits or is that looking unlikely now?

Those belt drive bikes do certainly look interesting. The idea of less mess and low maintenance is appealing. I wonder how long it will be before all bikes are made like this...

Years and probably never!

Toothed belt drive is very inefficient compared to chain drive and the difference is quite obvious in riding when comparing the two. In fact the Zero shaft drive is better than toothed belt in efficiency terms.

Strida use toothed belt on their "triangular" folder for cleanliness/convenience reasons and Harley-Davidson have used it on some of their massive V twins which have no bother with overcoming the inefficiency. Otherwise it's never made inroads into two wheelers after many failed attempts to introduce them, despite toothed belts having been around for more than half a century.

I should have guessed! Still, perhaps as electric bike use becomes more popular, people will be willing to trade some efficiency for cleaner trousers...
