I think Russ the forum admin has moved them all to a special place to review them, he's done a separate thread earlier explaining.

Not guilty, I didn't start the Mark 2 thread Morgann, I think it was Tillson.

I was in the course of replying to your post directed to me when the thread was locked, but fortunately copied it in time, so here's the reply:

Perhaps you or somebody could? just briefly? for the benefit of we latecomers to what appears to our (well, my at least) uninformed eyes to be the 'Ebike sellers Cheerleader Tryouts'.

I haven't dug too deeply into it because... don't care; just a casual enquiry, don't bother if you CBA.

It's just that I'm wondering when one of them is going to bring their Mum along to complain about the meanness of it all.

Perhaps they could grow a pair, or at least, a thicker skin?
The issue is simply one of a supplier posting web pages that are designed to attract search engine inquiries for rival machines to their website, in order to then recommend their own products.

This isn't merely "mean" as you put it, it's dishonest and even when unsuccessful, wastes the time of inquirers. If all companies behaved in this way, search engines would lose much of their usefulness.

In a similar high street context, I don't think it would be reasonable for Tesco to open a second store in one of their areas but fitted with a Sainsburys fascia to entice their customers in. And I don't think Sainburys management's complaints about such an event would indicate lack of "a pair" or having a thin skin.

It happens a lot on eBay too. You search for something by brand or model number only to find a rival product or similar products offered, using the brand name and model numbers etc as keywords in title. eBay does not allow that its a listing policy offence.

Internet Searches

It is very much like what an SEO engineer does when you pay him to get your website listed higher on Google.

I suffer it all the time, for example if I put in a hotel name, at the top of the list are doubtful outfits trying to sell me rooms at the hotel, I sometimes look for ages to find the actual hotel web site. With many things it is even worse, and all you get is people selling different products from what you are looking for.

Hmm. yes. Are we sure that this wasn't an associate site?

Not trying to be an apologist for 50C to the extent of grabbing at straws but if you think you are in full control of your web presence, you are probably deluding yourself... apparently... my son says... and he is an SEO. :)

edited because I'm trying to learn to punctuate.

No, it wasn't, and 50cycles have acknowledged ownership of those pages and defended their use.

P.S. Looks like I just sneaked in in time!
