Dud Panasonic Motor Prize

My bid is based on the following:

  1. A few days ago you made a post offering on the classified thread offering the dud Agattu on ebay. I was interested I searched in vain for the ebay ad
  2. Today you posted on that same thread that you had repaired the Agattu with a replacement motor and now offered and the repaired bike was no longer for sale. At 1536 today I offered to take that defunct motor off your hands and save it going to groundfill or recyling. My post is here. I claim priority in identifying that your defunct motor might be useful for a number of investigations as described below.
  3. My interest in this motor is that I wish to pull it apart and study its construction and particularly its electronic controller circuits. On Flecc's website there is some very intriguing material about the construction and mechanical workings of the Panasonic motor system. Unfortunately there is very little about the electrical circuitry. 50 cycles have not provided any circuitry information in the handbook I got with my recently purchased Agattu. I have not been able to find any workshop manual giving circuits.
  4. I would like to have a go at drawing a circuit diagram for an Agattu controller. I dont want to pull my working bike to pieces. It would be ideal to try and analyse the electronic boards of the controller of a defunct Agattu motor. I understand from Flecc that the circuit boards are conformally coated with potting to prevent short circuits due to dampness. This will not impede my planned investigation since I can probably find a way to strip the coating and reveal the circuitry. If I can get the unit running, I will set it up on a test stand and study how the electronic circuits work. At the very least this study might help me determine how to safely engineer additional performance displays which I might then be able to fit to my working Agattu.
  5. I am not promising definite & complete success from this project, but what I will undertake to do is make a report my findings available to any interested member of this forum.

I want it so that my NEW bosch powered crankdrive will not get lonely........and it will feel so alive when it goes out daily and leaves its low tech/old maid of an Aunty bike behind....

I add my support for 10mph's bid and if he wins I'm happy to share the carriage costs you are committed to John.

Anything that adds to our knowledge of any e-bike is valuable enough to support.

I did wonder if you would have ago Tony, but you are totally selfless as usual.
Thanks for the kind offer to pay carriage costs, but that is not necessary.

Thanks John. I do know a bit more* about the new unit's electronic side than I reveal on my site, but 10mph will be able to find out much more by stripping out the mainboard, something I haven't had the opportunity to do anyway.

* The unrevealed information is how to boost the peak power from circa 400 watts to about 1000 watts. Why not divulged? Well there's no knowledge of how the units would stand up to that and at almost £500 a replacement unit it's not an advisable mod. As well as putting the unit's electronics, motor and internal nylon gear at risk, combined with up to 300 watts of rider power it would also have a nasty effect on the bike transmission which has already proved a bit vulnerable with present powers.

Basically I don't want to be responsible for opening this particular Pandora's box.

P.S. I'll be offline in a remote part of the country for two or three days from tomorrow morning, so I won't be able to see any pleas to reveal all. :D

OK John......I want it.....no, I NEED it because, well, apart from generally wanting things for the sake of it :).... I have just started an ''antique/collectables/vintage'' business and have used my 'new bike' money,(and more !) so I would like to paint it red and stand it in my hall and pretend its a new Raleigh Dover......cos thats the nearest I will get to one THIS year.....sob sob sob.......( do I sound distraught enough ???? )
PLUS ......I dont agree with vivisection........10mph is sounding very cruel to poor hard working batteries.......he must be stopped before this all gets out of hand........ :) :)

Take no notice of the do gooders and wimps here.

I want it so that I can advertise it on eBay as in full working order as new and get £200 for it which I then spend on expensive wine that I could otherwise not afford.

It's got to go to me to create my new hybrid, the Panamatic.
Half Cyclamatic, half Panasonic, the vision of the future...

Specs:

- 600v 1000Ah battery
- 200 Mph+
- Distance on full charge, Land's End to John o' Groats
- Superglue tyres allow you to climb buildings vertically, for easy parking right outside your office window
- Built in Quantum Leap Accelerator, for the odd spot of time travelling
- Stealth mode, in case you need to hide from the Fuzz
- Vibrotastic jelly seat, soothes those painful bum grapes
- Umbrella holder

Panamatic.... RIDE THE DREAM....

With my rotten luck I'll probably win it even though it's the last thing I want and Joyce will probably divorce me for bringing even more junk into the house and my children will never speak to me again and there will never be a lovely summer day again so I'll never get to have even one more ride on my lovely ebike and taxes will double and my books will never be published and real ale will be banned and ...

Think you might hurt your foot Eddie and not be able to ride your current pride and joy.
Are you the same person who was raving about the virtues of a Panasonic powered Flyer, or are you just raving:p
