If you manage to find a 350watt 36v it will still draw almost as much 20amps + so all most as much as the hd on a lower setting

Ordered a 350w 100mm motor with bling ring, hopefully I can make it work.

That's not a bad combo the 350 will push 800 +watts peak in short bursts, you will need good battery cells if you build your own triangle pack

Finally finished my first ebike build! It was a lot easier than I had imagined, many thanks to members here who made my research easy. I purchased the adaptors from fleabay for a tenner and had a 2 week wait for them, meanwhile the motor came from em3ev (500w instead of 350w) but can't really complain, they threw in a 250w label , it came surprising quickly but UK customs had me over for £35 on duties. I ordered a bottle battery from Ali, well 2 x 7.8ah which were supposed to be 240mm long, my triangle is small! Batteries came, look good, but we're 310mm long which I knew from a template was super tight.
Sooo, BB out, front derailleur out, motor in. I didn't need any washers, all seemed to tighten down ok and so far (25 miles) it hasn't moved, lekkie bling ring worked a dream and no adjustment needed for gears. Fitted brake sensors on both brakes, was a bit fiddely working out the best position but got there in the end. Also fitted a gear shift sensor which works a treat. Turns out the battery couldn't fit any better, very snug, no movement at all, just clears the rear shock by about 3mm, could have been an expensive mistake but now gutted I didn't get a 10.8ah in that size. ☹. Ah well, I still have a super bike which cost less than my woosh Rio, still love my Rio, and it can hold its own (friend has an oxygen s cross) but this bike is a beast, 28mph on throttle with big 2.5 tyres, insane!

Good work!

Get yourself some mobilgrease 28 - it’s needed on the drive gear (chain ring side), every 500 miles or so

The em3ev 500watt I had in a bike pulled 1100 watts peak and 25 amps it was great fun the battery had a hard life keeping up well done with the build

I can't see that battery lasting long unless you avoid riding on full power, though something isn't clear. The 500w BBS02 is 48v. There's no way to accommodate 48v in the 240mm case, as only 20 cells can fit. You can get 30 in your longer case, but if 48v, it will be 26 (13S2P). Unless you have some special cells in there, it's going to get a very hard time running an 18 amp crank motor.

The 500watt is most often available as a 36 volt 25 amps, the power drain is very hard, the em3ev has very good basic settings [they only do one version with different stickers bbs02] you can watch most battery packs sag after a few miles and the motor gets warm

If it's 36v, it's a 30 cell battery, which means 25 amps per 3 cells, which is 8 amps per cell.

Even with a large triangle and 30q cells the current required is massive on high power settings
This caused an early failure on a cheap 15ah battery but worked ok with a 17.5 ah battery from jimmy but limited range
The power requirement is higher than a bbshd because of the lower voltage

My 36v BBS02 500w performs great with a 60cell 35e celled HL battery. I run it at about 22A, and the 21Ah battery is good for about 26 miles

OP may need to figure out a way of cramming 60 cells into that triangle if he wants that kind of range

Thanks. Got 16 miles on one battery yesterday going full pelt,

The batteries I have are 30s3p, I have 2 of them rated 7.8ah (may get 1 recelled). They are giving me about 20 miles per battery, more if I wasn't always going fast, I cruise around 28mph, bike weights in at sub 19kg, I'm 70kg, 2.5 29er tyres. Bike is a beast, very happy with the build although we all want more range, the motor seems very quiet although I get a lot of noise from the tyres. No movement on the motor that some complain about and the torque is insane! Manuals with throttle from standing. Fitted a gear shift sensor and love the way it engages/disengages, brake sensors fitted to both brake levers, a bit fiddely but a necessity imo even without a throttle. Can't wait to hit the trails!
