For reasons spelled out after the new links below, my websites are now in my own domain, flecc.co.uk and are no longer available on the old Tiscali and Tinyworld links:

Panasonic units support

Giant Lafree support

eZee Torq 1 & Quando support

If you are interested in a little local wildlife, there's this one below which is primarily for a few interested friends and relatives. They're mainly Windows users who are not all computer savvy, so there's some very basic instructions on some pages:

Wildlife

N.B. The reason for the change of website location is that I've almost completely lost access to my old sites as a result of TalkTalk failing to honour their commitment to continue with the Tiscali customer provisions after they took them over. When I did on one occasion get access last week I found much of the content missing. I will continue to try to get access to place redirect pages, but so far I've had no success.

Flecc, if you are specialised in selling and customizing e-bikes, you should have a domain name that let people think you're selling bikes. Something such as custom-ebikes.co.uk for example.

You would have more people going to your website from search engine.

No, I've been retired for years cwah. I was in the trade fitting petrol add-on motors to bikes sixty years ago and moved on from that decades ago, but retained an interest in powered bikes.

My web activity is purely personal, the Lafree and Panansonic bike sites resulting from the fact that Panasonic give no consumer support, the Torq and Quando site as a result of owning them. I've never had a commercial involvement with e-bikes, but am supportive of the trade.

In any case my name is good enough in search engines, look what came up first when I typed flecc into Google, you can see that much of the page is me, as well as being in first place:

flecc search on Google

Your preference Flecc.

People won't type naturally "Flecc" on google unless they are looking specifically for you.
If your goal is to acquiere new customer, you should target keyword such as "ebike" or "electric bike". A domain name isn't really expensive (maybe 15£/year?), so that's a little extra that won't cost you much with some benefits.

Of course, if you're retired and don't plan to get any more customer, you don't need to do that :)

My domain name cost nothing at first and then much less than £15 pa. I don't really want lots of e-bike attention, more than enough to do already. It's mainly the Panasonic site that's of interest to owners, and that's linked to from various international forums including this one. My sites are also in the A to B magazine QuickLinks page, and I have e-bike contacts in various countries who link people to my sites. ( in France, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, USA, Australia, South Africa)

Tell you what; why don't you teach your granny to suck eggs? (English idiom - you could Google it)

Flecc....thankyou so much for the links.........those wildlife photos must be some of the best I have seen......and much as I am really scared of spiders, I managed to look and read through all of that section because it was just so fascinating !

As for the bike sections......I'm just waiting and wondering when or if we will ever see a 'VERY' interesting new chapter.......bet you are tempted !! :D :D

That's the reaction of everyone who doesn't like spiders Lynda, they can't help be anything but fascinated by the life of that mother, her pregnancy and the hatching. I'm surprised that none of the professionals like Oxford Films have done this story for TV with pro equipment.

I haven't done much with the high speed camera for slow motion films yet, hopefully be able to do more this year, including the 1200 frames per second mode.

As for the bike sections, I doubt there will be another one, they were a lot of work, especially the Lafree and Panasonic support sites. Spending more time doing other things now.

Great to your sites up again flecc shame you couldn't keep all your old links to redirect traffic...I love the wildlife site, some great stories and pics/vids there. I'm the same as you when it comes to wildlife, have a fascination and respect for all creatures..been seeing some foxes around here lately..one has been in my close twice in the early hours....I like to watch spiders around the house but I try not to disturb them..have you noticed those spiders with the thin legs have a technique of rotating/shaking their web so you can't see them easily? Maybe some kind of defensive tactic? I'm always rescuing tiny insects I see drowning..its great to see them go from lifeless floating upside down to walking around again!

Flecc, you might be able to get some of your content from the Internet archive. The most recent snapshot of myweb.tiscali.co.uk/flecc/ taken in April 2011: tiscali

The snapshot of your other site is quit a bit older, January 2009, but it might contain something you need:

This is not google's cache, and should be there for a while. But still a good idea to get it quickly just in case.

On a more mischievous note, I wonder if it also archives forum threads that have been removed ;-)

Thanks Daudi, but I haven't lost any content since I do all my own web construction and publishing so it's on my computer and backed up offboard anyway. It's just that I've lost access to post redirect pages to link people to my new location.

In fact I seized the change opportunity to update the sites since I hadn't had access for quite a while to do that, and the Wildlife one has drastically changed and expanded now.

Yes, it definitely is, it's their reaction to any kind of perceived threat. For such a spindly creature they are incredibly effective, capable of taking out just about any other British spider. Very dependent upon us though, their one weakness being that they don't have a permanent life in the wild, only existing in our buildings long term. People mistakenly think they do see them on brambles and the like, but that's the harvestman, an eight legged insect that's not proven to have any spider origin. That has the two front legs shorter than the second pair, unlike the spider, and also a one piece fly-like body, no separate head, thorax and abdomen, both giving away it's different identity.

Most people are uncertain about the i.d. of our spider, many calling it the "daddy longlegs" spider, others objecting, saying that daddy longlegs is the crane fly. That's why I identify the spider by saying long legged house spider and refer to it's scientific name, pholcus phalangioides.
