In the trike I have the 36v 33Nm steel geared, which gives 18.5 mph and 10.5% hill climb in a 20" wheel. In the mtb I have the 36v 53Nm steel geared hub, giving 15mph and 15% hill climb...it's a beast when on very very steep off road terrain.

2'' , well that would just be called a white frost here !!!!!!2" of snow in North Norfolk this eveningI wonder what the night will bring
sunday and its blizzard conditions about a foot of snow in the past 24 hours.
great for sledging and an early start to the skiing season in scotland......
hopefully schools will get closed tomorrow and the kids can play in the snow....much healthier than sitting in an overheated classroom......

No more snow here in the Midlands thankfully, but the snow from Saturday morning has now turned to ICE so I'm waiting for it to melt to take my first bike ride. There's a bit of sun today but it's not helping the temperature any, it's ruddy FREEZING so cold in fact that I've got 2 jumpers on!
Actually the road at the back has been cleared so I could take it for a quick ride up there, but I wanted somewhere a bit quieter for my first ride...shall wait until tomorrow!

Slight problem I noticed last night, I could have driven somewhere if I wished but the jammed up roads mean I wouldn't get anywhere.
More snow here...uurgh. I removed some solid ice from the birds watering bowls on my balcony last weekend.. they're still there and not showing any sign of melting!..I bet the temperature hasn't been above zero. I heard on the news the other day they were saying we could be in for a severely cold December with temperatures as low as -15! Let's hope not!
schools now out for the week here......its already been minus degree double digits in the evenings..we are used to heavy snow here but this is exceptional..

Saw a reporter in Siberia (I think in Irkutz) on TV news at midday. He threw a jugful of boiling water into the air
and it instantly turned into snow as it fell to the ground!
He said the temperature was minus 53 degrees C.
Not a problem for the locals though, they hold the record for the lowest temperature ever recorded in an area
of human occupation, minus 71 degrees C
Sort of puts our situation into perspective.

Great idea, if he had used black ties then it would have looked better.
Last winter it proved to be great fun, especially when cornering...lots of oversteer as the back end stepped out.[pre studs!] The front end was fairly well behaved, all though we did have a few three wheel sideways slides, until the trailer pulled me back into line...lots of screams from my daughter!
She now has a screen fitted to her trike/trailer bike and wears goggles, so the cold and snow will not be a problem.
That's the neatest trailer I've seen, how old is your daughter? Did you purchase it like that or is it a home made jobby?
Hi, it's a Hase Trets trailer bike, and is also available as a trailer only.
My daughter is 5, and she has been on it for quite some time. I think the minimum height is 110cms, but she was 104cm when she began using it. It has an extending boom, and easy adjust chain system, so my wife at 5'2" can even ride it. They haven't skimped when building this, and as a result it is very sturdy and capable. We use it every day for approx.10 miles, so I made a full length windshield to protect my daughter.
They are not cheap, but I managed to source this secondhand, it had only been used on a couple of occasions. Kevin at DTek has offered me what I paid for it, if I ever decide to sell. This will not be for a few years of school runs!
The great thing is that when we go for longer rides, any paths or parks, can be ridden independently by popping the front wheel on.

It really is one of the neatest looking trailers I've seen. My daughter has just turned 6, she is already quite passionate about bikes and would love this as her school transport method. I've checked out the website, but there is little detail about prices, can you give me an approximate figure for a new one? I suspect my christmas wish list may need to be re-written! Cheers, Rus.

We have been doing the school run now for a few years, what with nursery etc, and we sold one of our cars as a result [summer 2009]. Made it all the more affordable.

I don't know about 'pouring a drink', once I looked at that price list I ended up downing the whole bottle. I showed the list to my wife who optimistically asked whether the prices quoted were in Zimbabwean dollars!!
