its a pretty standard threadless headset, with a slightly fancy adjustable stem that i dont really need given the setting ive got it on... if i was worrying about grammes on this bike i would replace it with a lighter simpler one, i wont because this bike is more for comfort and very comfy it is...

i'm holding myself back from fitting more forward set aggressive flat handlebars (plus ergon gr2 grips) as the trekking style ones work well in powered mode. they will not be so good when 100% human power is the only thing available as they dont really suppport out of the saddle or low profile riding very well. will see how i go as the miles pass by.

Yes, I was a bit taken aback at that headset adjustment, a rather fussy design, seemingly gaining nothing over a normal pivoting extension.

Bars are often a bit of a problem on e-bikes and it's something that frequently crops up in here. Some e-bikes seem to need two riding modes even more than normal bikes. Not as difficult to organise on bikes like yours as on throttle control bikes though.

flecc, on the subject of riding out of the saddle, my normal riding style means i ride out of the saddle quite a bit, this typically means that i ride longer 175 cranks as they are better suited to this style for my legs - as opposed to a more sit down spinning style.

looking at the cranks on the pro connect they seem to be two 170 left hand cranks, obviously the right hand one is specially threaded to be fitted the "wrong" way around. do you know where these cranks come from? can they be bought?

That I don't know offhand Tom, I've never heard of a demand for one. Three possibilities though.

50cycles have always been good with holding spares for bikes they've represented, so might be able to obtain them, though different lengths are unlikely.

BikeTech in Switzerland who make a similar bike seem to have a good attitude to spares for these units, having all three motor chain sprockets for example.

Cycle engineers Highpath Engineering make cranks to order from 175 mm blanks, so may have a suitably shaped matching blanks. I've had my Q bike cranks made by them as I wanted 165 mm.
