Finding my (electric) wheels

Hi I have a kt 35 kit on my bike.
last week i took it out in the snow on a very sleep hill clime and think i maxed it out.
bike stopped and lcd now always reads 0% and wont start.

when i tested the HALL sensors i was expecting to see 5v from the red and black but get 2.5 V.

i tried another controller and the same.

am i right in thinking there is a short or sensor problem in the motor ?

You can get 2.5v if you spin the wheel too fast when testing, though if 2.5v at very slow rotation then yes hall/s are faulty.

Probably. Disconnect everything except the LCD and battery. Switch it on the LCD and measure the 5v from the controller. If it's still 2.5v, the 5v regulator is faulty. If it's 5v, connect one thing at a time until you find the culprit.

i opened the motor and tested each hall sensor .
i wired the black and red to a 5v power supply and measured the voltage between black and one of the hall sensors then used a magnet to switch the hall on and off on each.
in my case it was the yellow one that did not change to 5v the other two did so guess just got to wait for a new hall sensor to turn up.

Im very happy :).
Fitted the new hall sensor and it works.
Though i must say getting the wheel open and soldering the new sensor is not the easiest thing to do.
The good thing is it only cost £3 to fix !..
