The only place to fit my battery on this frame is on the top tube which is only 32mm diameter. It was somewhat wobbly with standard rubber mounts.

I bought a cheap rubber mallet chopped one end off and drilled and bored 32mm dia hole before cutting in half, adding flats and drilled for the screws.

The extra support made a huge difference and It worked out perfect.

The only other thing concerning me is where the motor cable exits the Axle slot. There is a spring which is supposed to protect the cable. This would be fine if there was a sufficient radius but it seems like there is none.

I think I will add the end of a nylon cable tie where it exits!

I wouldn't be happy with that battery placement and mounting. How solid is it if you try to move it sideways by hand, and would it survive the bike falling over sideways? Might attract attention too.

Smaller issue: the unused connector ends up beside the head tube need weather protection.

I know what you are saying. I should have been clearer that it is temporary. It screamed the same to me. That battery belongs to my Voodoo mid drive where it sits within the triangle. It is a rather large battery anyway at 31.5ah. The new battery will only be 12ah for my short Canal rides.

I have cells on the way from China and cannot decide whether to make a pack to sit on a rear rack or a triangle in a bag forward of the seatpost and resting on the top tube, which is why I made up a patch lead to use temporarily

Glad you mentioned the unused connectors. I would normally heat shrink them, but you have given me the idea of making some rubber caps to fit.

It is a very solid fixing however even over rough ground with no visible wobble and only because of the extra wide fixing rubbers that I made.
As for surviving a fall, I doubt it!
