This site which has a stock of images like this doesn't have any with a bicycle that could be adapted sadly and making a "clean" version with a blank background to drop in your own bicycle would be virtually impossible.

Do you think even with the 2-pin plug it would be acceptable for the UK, if you could just take out the car and put a bike in?

Yes, of course it would....I dont think anyone is going to take offence over how many pins our plug has .........well....hopefully not.....mind you......:D

hi DJH, yeah it should be working fine the registration..the site and project is still very much a "work in progress" though and beyond registering for an account you can't do much else yet apart from comment on articles, no charging-points or directory added :)
Each time I tried to register it said username already in use. Tried 3 usernames to no avail. Anyway, I've just received 3 emails thanking me for registering an account! You therefore have 3 of me as members!!!

Excellent - clear, pretty obvious what it means, and it's even got a green background.

If plan is to make charging free (so to speak), might it be useful to say it somehow on the sign without spoiling the simplicity? Any more graphic designers out there?

The aim is to keep the scheme free for as long as possible, but we can't guarantee it will always be free and a (small) fee might have to be charged at some point in the future. So it might not be a good idea to make a free pledge on the sticker and then have to replace them all later. Plus we can't really dictate to businesses that they allow people to charge batteries without providing some custom. Some businesses may wish to have such a condition (will be indicated on the website - "customers only"), which then technically means the service is not "free" if you see what I mean. Just playing devils advocate.

On the subject of payment, I thought the use of "Recharge" or "Recharging" in the original designs was preferable to "Charge Point", because people might think the latter was referring to the fact that you had to pay (that is, a charge was being made for the service).

Could something like this with a bicycle be a better approach? I'm in discussions with the designer who made this (a japanese guy)...

He also did these...

Re the previous green square design I posted earlier... I approached the person who sells a stock of similar green box icon images (including that car one), but he said he doesn't do custom designs.

I think the graphic two pin plug symbols in the Japanese illustrations are probably clearer in meaning than the more technically accurate 13 amp plug illustration earlier.

Please excuse my plagiarism.
I like the look of your Japanese guys work. He looks like a professional – which unfortunately I’m not.!

No, I like the black with the touch of red. Makes very clear what it means.

I still prefer this all black version. White text and image on a colour background can be indistinct at times, especially in bright daylight. That's when the harsh black contrast stands out, the splash of colour highlighting the electrical aspect.

The all black version, but have the battery behind the downtube, so it looks more like a commercially available ebike than a 'something' on a rack?
Keep the red and yellow flash on the battery.
