Hi all,i've just acquired a powabyke euromodel oldie.
I am hoping, semebody can help me with some technical stuff.
There does'nt seem to be much information out there.
The bike's batteries are shot, but i'm organising new ones.
They charge full, but almost immediately, they drain to four lights, approx 33volt.
The motor is very stuttery, and am wondering where the fault lies.
The throttle is fine.
The motor is fine
Its a toss up between, ignition, sensors or controller.
The power enters and exits on the ignition switch, but i dont know how the (blue, green and red is supposed to act.
Also, would anyone know how to test the pedal crank sensor and the other one at the back wheel.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help

Try checking the PAS sensor set up, does it use conventional disc and sensor ?
PAS testing with battery on, set meter dial to 20v. Probe sensor + /- wires to see about 5v, then probe -/sig wire should see 1v. Rotating pas (motor wheel off ground) you should see 4 -5v as magnets pass sensor. Much the same for rear spd sensor.

Rear sensor is it a speed sensor with a spoke magnet ?

Edited info,
As said probe +/sig wire should see 1v, edited as should be -/signal .

Just to clear something up,,,
I wrote above, that the three wires on the ignition that i queried was(blue green and red)
When in actual fact,it was (blue, green and yellow)

Thank you nealh,
Yeah, thats a good idea and i will take your advice.
The new batteries should be here late next week,,, hopefully.
As a matter of interest, what would your opinion be of the powabyke euromodel be
Its the after 2007 model???

Thank you nealh,
So,would the sensor test be almost the same test as used for the throttle (3x1.5 batteries)and spin wheel and rotate pedals.
The type of sensors are as per photos above

The motor is brushed so two wires are neg and two are pos, pair of neg wires connect direct to controller pcb and other pair after ign sw connect to batt +.
The Red is a the live /sw feed return ?

Like my 2006/7 Swizzbees they are old tech using brushed motor/controller set up and quite heavy, my pair one Nimh and one lipo now both run on 7s lion.
Your stuttering might be down to motor brushes but if throttle runs ok may be not.
Also check all phase connections are good.
Current draw is often much higher with brushed motors so batteries need to be good ones, you could have gone to lithium power as they are so much better then SLA.

Th sensors must pass a magnet somewhere whether it is a hall (3 wire) or reed (2 wire) type.

The sensor needs to send a signal so will need a spoke magnet to act as the switch break for the sensor.

Or £1.50 from Halfords.

Nealh,is it possible to check circuit board (controller) on this bike?
I got the new batteries and the motor doesn't start.

With the controller and motor connected does the wheel turn by hand anticlockwise ?

I'll explain what i did so far,,,
I put 12 volts onto the wires for the front wheel motor and it powered straight away.
I put 4.5 volts onto the throttle and tested,on low it was .9volt and full throttle,it was 4.5 and 2 volt in the middle.
I fitted three new batteries,(12v 14ah).
Ignition is sending power through it on live .
So thats where i'm at.
