I think a review would now be in order on the x-6 so far. Have now done around 120 miles, mostly just for work commute.
I am very pleased so far. This bike is fast, and 22mph is not unusual in pedal assist. You do need to keep up with it! That said the throttle does work ok but can be a little difficult making minute adjustment in speed. Have only used it in the wet once, and am not qualified to comment on how it will be in the wet. I did have a problem on the way home one afternoon recently when the elec to the hub would die and restart and die again etc! I unscrewed the connector on the fork to find around ten wires to mail and femail plug. two of these wires had come loose and were making spasmodic connection to the terminals thus causing intermitant contact. I resoldered the wires and put back together. I have to say this appears to be a weak point/design on the bike and have spoken to powerbyke. Apparantly on the previous model there are only two wires since that hub is a brushed hub.
This is brushless and therefore more wires! They think this connector may be superceded in the future for prehaps a stronger one. I hope so. If anyone else has a problem which is similar on an x-byke please make sure you tell them, otherwise they can't address the problem. It is very important if you unscrew this connector make sure you hold the wire firmly while unscrewing or you may break the wires from the connectors. Apart from that its the best thing I have bought in years!

Thanks for the review Ray, the new version of the X6 is a great improvement.

As you say, those connections are all important. There's 8 in all, three phase wires that carry the drive power and five usually thinner wires that carry the positional sensing currents from the motor that tell the controller when to send the phase current pulses.

Great review Ray, I had considered the X-6 on my list of bikes to get as it looks very much like a conventional bike plus it's very lightweight and the small batteries are easy to carry. I wasn't sure about it's power tho compared to bikes like the Wisper as I'm after something with a bit of a umph on the throttle which can go above 15mph. Your review has made me re-consider tho, the price is certainly appealing. What kind of distances can you get on a single charge, or would you estimate possible? Also how fast can it go on just throttle and do you have to pedal still?

I've used the X6 for nearly two years and get 20 Km which is my daily commute. Might get 25 at a push. This is on relatively flat terrain with judicious use of assist.

I'm also having problems with the connector mentioned and appreciate the advice on a fix.
