Not really Eddie, tastes differ, many of us like the finesse in the way the Panasonic unit operates. It's clear from all reports that the Bosch unit suffers from a sharp cutoff at 15 mph, and I for one can't stand that in any system I've tried that's like that. It means riding at below 14 mph and making sure it doesn't reach 15 and start the on/off behaviour around that speed, or riding at 16 mph or more without any assistance. This somewhat precious attitude toward Panasonic is really very odd.
Either way that's a daft way for an e-bike to operate. Maybe Bosch will improve it, they certainly should, but that's not as easy as it sounds. Even when copying the Panasonic unit directly, Yamaha didn't manage it and I'm sure you'll have noticed how that's largely vanished after only one western company adopted it.
Meanwhile for smooth, seamless operation, the Panasonic unit is still tops, especial now the early phase down of power has been dropped. At the moment the only possible successor to match that is the new Kalkhoff unit, but we'll have to wait and see. I'm hoping to try one very shortly.
