Just a quick post to let you all know that my Tonaro Enduro arrived in Denmark today. The first to enter the country.

10 minutes after opening the box I was pedalling down the road.

There were a couple of issues that I will not mention at the moment as I have just e-mailed Phil and I am sure we will sort the problems out.

The first thing I did was to change the seat the bike came with. Luckily my road bike seat post and Brooks saddle is a direct swap. I then changed the lucky bag pedals it came with for a set of Shimano SPD pedals which flip over to be normal pedals.

I took a 20 minute ride and breezed up 2 hills that I find tough on my road bike and so I am looking forward to reporting on a few rides and giving my opinion of the bike over the next few weeks.

Here are a couple of photos just in case you have not seen this bike.

Looks good Steve, I hope you get years of enjoyment from it. The Tonaros are spreading so fast they're in danger of getting the status of a disease! ;)

Looks good. I must admit to being intrigued by these drives assuming it is the same as the motor details I posted here .

As stated we are all looking forward to a full review in due course :p

Good luck with the bike Steve. I'm very interested to hear more about these machines, they seem to be very popular. Please keep us updated with your progress.

It is exactly the same Jerry. The bike on the video is the Bighit which is a little over 2kg heavier than the Enduro but they both have the same power unit.

Hello Steve, how easy is it to climb hills with the Tonaro? do you have to help it with pedalling?

Hi Trex,

I only got the bike yesterday and have not got used to it yet but I did ride 2 hills that I usually battle up with my road bike. I am quite fit and did pedal up in the lightest assist and it was a doddle to what I usually endure.

I only had 3 lights left on the battery when I got it out of the box so I did not want to tax it too much.

I am sure it would have got up the hills with just the throttle but they are steep, long hills. I think on any electric bike that if you rely totally on the throttle and not pedalling at all that the battery will drain quite quickly. I prefer the term " Pedal assist bikes" as opposed to "Electric bikes" and electric bike to me is a scooter that runs on batteries and not petrol.

I have bought mine for my 40km round trip commute to work in an undulating area. The Enduro allows me to shut the power on and off at the handlebar and I will be using it with and without electric assist during my commute. My first trip is tomorrow.

On my road bike I usually make the trip in about 50-55 minutes but it is a hard training sessiion. My aim is not to be too much slower but to expend a lot less energy and to admire the scenery a bit more.

Thanks Steve I appreciate that the bikes in the first video I posted but it was the drive arrangement that I was questioning. As I understand from the forum member vhfman in the other post the motor although the same, has a different drive arrangement i.e. their is an enclosed gear box on the two bikes, unlike the kit (shown in the other videos) which has a seperate chain between a cog/sprocket on the motor to another cog/sprocket on the end of the crank spindle. In the kit the main chain ring then seems to cover all this up ?

Regards

Jerry
