But that has to be live music for me. Many years ago before tourism spoilt London for the residents, I worked for the French Logabax company based in Buckingham Palace Road right opposite the palace side entrance. That meant regularly being treated to the various guards bands who would strike up the full refrain just as they reached that point, before reaching the palace foreground.

In the relatively narrow confines of Buckingham Palace Road the sound was really something special.

Back in the 70s I had a friend who was PR for Disney in London. Their office backed onto the Mall.

He told me that he had some very important Japanese business clients coming over and he had been asked to wine,dine and look after them. After they'd gone back, he got an effusive herogram from head office in LA because the Japanese had emphasised to them how impressed they had been with their treatment.

Wile that is a lot of money think of how much extra money will be generated through tax. More than £20m will be generated off today alone never mind the extra tourism over the year as a result. Think of it, hotels, transport, confectionery, meals, souvenirs etc etc

It is wedding mad here and I am in Denmark.

The wedding is on the TV at the moment and I finished work at lunchtime. No Day off for me I am afraid.

I have the George Cross and Union Jack flying in the garden...big ones. I do not mind flying them as my taxes are not paying for this bash.

I must admit he is a lucky man. Kate looks stunning. I am pleased to say they got married for all the right reasons, unlike Prince Charles. I am 100% in favour of William and Kate leapfrogging Charles for the throne. In the next 10 years all the current european monarchs will be stepping down for the younger generation. The last think Britain needs is Charles taking over and continuing into his 90s.

As for "Queen" Camilla. I would be first in line to protest about that.

A great spectacle indeed, and Britain excels at such things, but the tradition and history bit is actually a con!

This was well covered in a BBC Radio 4 program some while ago, showing that all this royal pomp and ceremony was a Victorian invention. The spectacle with many of it's outfits and carriages just didn't exist before.

Maybe so but i like to see it and i feel proud of Great Britain and proud to be English. Our monarch is marvelled all over the world. We have friends over in Texas, they are Texan and they stayed up and had their own party to celebrate. Quite ironic really they love our history and our Royal family but they decided to break away lol.

I agree with the idea that Charles should abdicate to let Wills take over. I actually think Wills want to change a few things and i bet him and Harry are a right laugh behind closed doors. I reckon at some point tonight after a few drinks Harry will do that T mobile advert lmao. And, i swear at the Church he was cracking jokes about it before Kate got there lol.

Kate did look nice although her sister looked stunning in that dress she had on.
