...and I forgot to mention. We do take the users comments very seriously and we are now in the process of develepoing the new motor with the proper internal clutch which will be totally drag free. The clutch has actually been designed by my dad and we are already inplementing it with another motor company (not 8FUN) The design will be patented and the new motors with bigger hub shell will be able to generate a lot higher torque which will improve the climbing ability. We are expeting now to have a the frist samples ready fairly soon so if you would be interested we could fit one on your bike to see how you feel about it.
As i said in a past email i would be more than happy to try stuff out for you
The drag i feel is noticeable, not going uphills i feel thats where the bikes really helps its the other side when your going down or if you feel that you fancy a flat pedal. If i freewheel down hills i really do notice it. This could just be the newness of the hub?? I have done 125 miles on the Race so far so jumped on my none ebike tonight to test it and i can definitely feel drag on the Race and its not me getting used to stuff.
Like i said though when throttling or pedaling with assist i dont notice the drag until i get beyond the legal limit when the hub no longer helps you but im really impressed at how fast you get there. With regards to your new clutch version will it add a lot more weight? And, does it need maintenance?
I have come across a strange problem though, when it rains i have notice the front pads stick and the only way to free them is to rapidly pull the front brake lever and this frees it. I have check over the cables and they move freely it was actually the pads them selves.
I hope im not sounding to critical, picky or negative im still really happy with the Race and think it was the right choice for me, the off road capability is a great option for me and lots of people still comment on how good it looks
