What do you wear?

I use my e-bike as a runabout so wear whatever I happen to be wearing. If commuting the 6+ miles into town then I will take a change of clothes, but still wear whatever I happen to be wearing when riding to get there.

What do I wear? Whatever I happen to be wearing that day. Keep in mind that Millets is my tailor of choice, so probably cargo trousers,sweater,sandals,T-shirt - that sort of thing. Unlikely to be wearing a suit, though there is one, I think, somewhere in the house! I thought that the point of having an ebike was that is there, waiting to whisk you off to the far end of the world/street/cyclepath or whatever the destination of choice happens to be? Honestly, the thought of having to change into my lycra shorts, replica T de F sweat shirt, the - what d'ye call 'em, clipless shoes? - just to nip to the Co-op for the Groniad - quicker to get the car out!

Cycling (of any variety) is a broad church. A work colleague of mine is a keen recreational cyclist and has come from BMX via down hill racing and is now a 'roadie' but shockingly (to me) has never owned a bike lock cos he drives his bike to wherever, does his thing, sticks it back in the car and goes home. I got into cycling many years ago when I lived in London and have always treated it as transport, pure & simple. Having not a competitive bone in my body, cycling for me is about getting from A to B so just like Tom I cycle in whatever I'm wearing which on my daily commute happens to be suit & tie. I'm the smartest cyclist in Bath!

I ride as I am in normal clothing with no special preparation, exactly like the Dutch. To me cycling is no different from walking other than it having longer range possibilities.

I used to cycle in all the gear - although padded MTB shorts rather than lycra. However these days I tend to cycle in 'normal' clothing

When using the bike for commuting, I'll be wearing my office garb, whilst for other journeys I'll stick to cargo trousers rather than jeans, as they've a little more give

Occassionally I will wear my cycling gear if my sole intention is to just go out and cycle, but with a young family I don't very often get the chance!

Just ordinary clothes with the exception of footwear, the old arches are starting to sag a bit, so I wear 'Ride 'n' Walk' shoes, either NorthWave Missions or Shimano MT42.

When I first started riding four years ago, I often experienced pain in the top of my feet (plantar fasciitis) and occasionally, tenderness in my achilles tendon. Wearing proper cycling shoes eradicated both problems.

Gloves are worn in the Winter, but never in the Summer.

Depends

Mon - Sat 9am to 21:30 (i can work anywhere in that time frame) Trousers and shirt with black shoes. Plus Endura rain jacket i think its the flyte. In my bag i have waterproof trousers and some over shoes for them down pours. I do about 15 miles a day going to and from meetings.

Outside office hours generally what im wearing so jeans and a polo shirt normally. Then depending on the weather either a hoody or my rain jacket.

Forget lycra i like loose and baggy even my rain jacket is a XL and im a 42" chest

Oh, i do like to wear cycle glaves part fingered they feel comfortable and never bought any until i got the Oxygen and now love em. Even they arnt tight just slack enough so they dont slip off.

And of course i have a helmet one with a peak to help me with glare as i suffer bad from it

I generally just wear what I have on at the the time - although I always have some boots on (my Rohans normally) as I like a bit of decent grip and ankle protection as I am often on trails rather than tarmac. I'll often have a windproof jacket on as well unless it is sunny, warm and calm - which is rarely seen up here in the North East. I was riding up the Waskerley Way (part of the C2C) yesterday and even though it was a beautiful evening a really cold wind picked up just as I got on to the moorland section. Still it's only May (just).

I wear what I normally wear which is leggings t shirt sweatshirt and mens caterpillar ankle boots I can't see the point in changing just to go out on the bike when it's not vital.

I have no chain guard still on my bike and I was always getting oil on my best jeans so I prefer to wear the combat-style trousers now in darker colours, specifically for riding. They are cheap, comfortable and warm, and the bottoms don't flap about or need clipping down. I also prefer to wear fleeces for riding as they help keep you warm and the wind out. And finally, I wear a hi vis sleeved vest which gives me a bit of extra confidence on the roads.

I favour a Viking helmet with horns and 200 LEDs flashing red, white and blue, a custom chrome plated suit of replica Henry Vlll armour with matching revolving day-glo bow tie and sporran and 9 inch electric wedge heel shoes with built in loudspeakers playing the national anthem.

Unfortunately the helmet and armour are broken and unwearable now. I was riding across a roundabout when a car hit me. The driver was very apologetic. "Sorry, mate, I didn't see you", he said.

I wear MTB muddy fox shorts, cheap Puma sports t-shirts, Cycling shoes with some ankle sports socks and a regatta all weather out door coat.
Although with the weather being as it is I may look into getting a cycle jersey to see if I can go even faster as the coat does hold me back in high winds...

All the above is for commuting then I get changed at the office.

If I am just on the bike around town I just wear whatever as no where in the city takes longer on the bike than 5mins.

work days...just dress for work.....if its not raining and i go on the bike.....helmet and gloves and carry hi vis waterproof in pannier.
long leisure rides.....helmet, gloves,shades, padded undershorts, 'ron hill' track bottoms, rapha bomber jacket , t shirt and if required light wool top, trainers. hi vis waterproof in pannier...
short rides......just dress for what i am doing......

so , yes some specific bike wear for a good ride out but a lot of normal clothing for the short everyday journeys. rapha jacket a bit of a luxury but looks like a regular bomber jacket so gets worn when not using the bike !!!

I tend to wear synthetic stuff so you get the fast drying, sweat wicking and wind barrier effect when worn in layers. Loose tops and trousers/shorts are often sold cheap in outdoor shops when the sales are on.

It gives you all the benefits of lycra without making you look such a berk.
