is there any website that lists the energy generation in your region by post code search etc? how does one find out about local wind turbine proposals? i want to try and counter the disease of nimbyism that this country seams to have. i want to turn Yimby!

You could try switching to someone like ecotricity

While you probably won't be actually using the renewable energy directly they will be offsetting what you use.

LOL - reminds me of a Powergen caption competition for the new logo some years ago. "Look what I found on Sellafield beach":D

For those that didn't know like me - NIMBYism "Not In My Back Yard. The term is used to describe a new development's opposition by residents in its vicinity. The new project being opposed is generally considered a benefit for many but has negative side-effects on its close surroundings." Bit like Sellafield beach I suppose.

How did I miss the first post? YIMBY - I like - I have a big back garden surrounded on 3 sides by houses - I would happliy have a dirty great big wind turbine if I could afford it - I would also happily supply very cheap electricity (enough to pay for maintainance of turbine) to the neighbours if it would keep them happy.

They might not be so delighted with the noise of a large wind turbine at close quarters keeping them awake on windy nights though.

The large ones really can be very noisy and need some distance from dwellings.
