Firstly I should apologise for not being around lately. We have been massively busy in Germany tidying the loose ends with the Grace contract, and have another announcement which will be posted later today.

We are proud to confirm that Wisper has now entered a UK distribution partnership deal with Grace of Germany.

As you may know GRACE manufacture innovative high-tech e-bikes and pedelecs in Germany, they comply with the highest European quality standards. Company founder, Michael Hecken, designed the Grace Pro, the first e-motorbike authorised for street use in Europe. For the last two years, Michael has worked along side Nicolai of Germany to produce the Grace Easy and Grace MX pedelecs. Nicolai specialises in the development and production of particularly light weight high-quality mountain bike frames and bicycle components. More than forty custom-built items and proprietary developments for the Grace range are manufactured by Nicolai.

In 2011, Grace began production in cooperation with a large German bicycle factory and along with the Grace MX and Grace Easy has now completed the development of the SMART e-bike, which is due to be launched this year.

Interest in the Grace range of e-bikes in Germany has been immense. Grace are now in the process forming partnerships with highly organised distributors in neighbouring countries. Wisper, with our wide experience in distributing and servicing medium to high end electric bikes has been chosen to develop sales and offer dealer support within the United Kingdom.

We will be offering the range of all three Grace bikes but will be specialising in the pedelec versions of the lightweight Grace Easy and the Grace MX mountain bike.

The Grace Easy, is an unpretentious, understated urban pedelec, which combines design, speed and ease of use. It is equipped with a 250-watt BionX direct current motor, which accelerates the bike to 25 km/h, a maintenance-free SRAM 3-speed internal gear hub, a near silent, maintenance free Gates Carbon Drive, which has a life span three times longer than that of a bicycle chain, and regenerative hydraulic disc brakes, which recover energy thus increasing range. Batteries can be charged both on and off the bike.

The sturdy GRACE MX electric mountain bike combines the technical innovations of the Gates carbon belt drive with the NuVinci N360 transmission system and the Bosch mid-motor. The Grace MX down tube has been cleverly divided into three parts, facilitating the optimal combination of frame and drive. The battery is inserted from below and is fully protected against stone chippings and dirt. The motor is completely integrated into the frame and is mounted at an angle of 45 degrees to facilitate a short wheelbase as well as ample ground clearance.

A lowered top tube provides for a sporty all-terrain configuration, the extremely rigid frame is reinforced with the addition of gussets. All wiring and cables are protected inside the frame, whilst an upright sitting position increases the rider’s comfort.

High-quality components are completed by the addition of Rockshox suspension forks, Avid brakes and Ride rims. A Busch & Müller lighting system is available as an option.

The NuVinci N360 hub and the Gates carbon drive ensure that the MX ride is carefree and enjoyable. Adjustable dropouts are arranged horizontally so the drive system can easily be retightened if necessary.

The Grace Easy and Grace MX will be available to view and test at the forthcoming Cycle Show at the NEC in Birmingham. Further details will be on the Wisper web pages next week, but in the mean time if anyone would like further details drop me a PM.

All the best

David

Nice :)

I'm a big fan of belt drives (I've got a Trek Soho deluxe I'm converting atm).

Had a nosey round their website - the Grace One caught my eye - reckon I know what my xmas bonus will be spent on!

€3299.00 = £2590.93 at this point in time. Presumably that does not include local sales taxes........

Just receive my "sample" MX all charged and ready to go now. I will let you know how it goes, it was good in Berlin on flat streets but it will be interesting to see how it does on the North Kent Downs.

The price will be around £2600 / £2800 depending on exchange rates when we pay for the stock. However if anyone would like to reserve one now, I am sure we could work something out!

I dont think you need to worry about performance if my latest Bosch powered AVE MH7 is anything to go by...Hill climbing is stunning.

Hi all, Just back from my off road 10km test ride.

This is a lovely bike VERY nimble and superb at speed down the woodland tracks, the high gear is very high and you can get a real lick on! The bike is absolutely solid with no rattles, very BMW!!. It also performed beautifully along the flat metaled road, on speed mode I was getting 45kph without a problem, I need to check that the one I have been sent is actually not a speed pedelec!!

Hill climbing was fantastic as I expected, the drive on Grace MX is set to 50Nm, 10Nm more than most Bosch systems due to the use of the bomb proof Nuvinci drive, so that is understandable. It is a better hill climber than the Wisper se and Alpino bikes but about on a par with the Wisper sel certainly no better.

The thing I missed most of all of course was the throttle, I was surprised how much I must use it on my 906sel!

The best feature of the bike was a real surprise. I was ready not to like the Nuvinci drive or the carbon belt system, however they were amazing! Very quiet and not at all as I had heard, like riding through treacle. In fact, the eerie silence, the incredible range and almost uncanny natural use of the range changer was an absolute joy.

Although this bike may not suit everyone, it is a stunner, great looks and has all the gear, if you are seriously thinking about doing some off road or country trails I don`t think there is a better bike out there.

The "riding through treacle" comment has come from unpowered cycling experience David, it certainly wouldn't apply with a Bosch unit and 50 Nm of torque. Toothed belt drive is certainly very much quieter than chain and sprocket, and again any efficiency loss is wiped out by the drive power available on this system. With this power level the problematic chain wear of the Bosch system is overcome with toothed belt which makes perfect sense for this application.

It sounds like a great all round e-bike, but surely also a high speed class one if the assistance is to 45 kph (28 mph)?
