Well i bought my beautiful Tonaro Bighit ,and in the week i proudly set off for work,
on the way i stopped off at the Supermarket,so i locked my bike up using the old cable lock type ,the one that has all the wires and plastic coating on the outside ,i would not normaly use one of these ,but with having two electric bikes,i had not put the D lock one in my bag,but left it with my other bike,i was in the supermarket for a very short while ,but when i came out i realised i had no key with me ,
YOU,can imagine my reaction, i cant leave my bike and go home fetch the key ,because some one was bound to steal it ,lol but just as i thought what the hell am i going to do ,my mate turns up on his cycle, which is brilliant in a way as we both work at the same firm, but not good because i have been taking the mickey out of him about how rubbish normal cycles are lol,his reaction was if you beg a little ,and take every thing back that i had said ,he would go and fetch a hacksaw from where we work,
eager to please i was soon begging, and he promptly came back with a hacksaw ,
and what i cant beleave is he cut the cable in seconds, and there were a lot of people about and no one chalenged us,but the cable might as well have been made of string,
wow what a load of rubbish ,and a wake up call for me ,very best wishes Brian.

So easily done Brian, but all's well that ends well.

As you've seen the public will take no notice of apparently blatant theft, which is why the car manufacturers have largely given up on fitting alarms and only fit immobilisers now.

Lynda,
I'm intrigued as to how you knit, spin and hug your pommy whilst riding your bike! Is there a new sat-nav technology I've missed?

Indeed sir, I commend your bikes popularity, well done. You are a great judge of electric bicycles, may you reap the rewards of your purchase :p

And get those photos on the forum!

I hope your not relying on the sentinel there brian lol. That thing aint even good for toilet roll.

As for your lock well your a numpty lol i did the same but luckily i was home and the one i had was tough, i broke 2 hack saws and other cutting tools and even a 30kg bolt cutter struggled to cut it easily. Shame it was destroyed int eh end. I just hope its replacement is as tough but any lock they will get through should they want it bad enough.

Glad you got it sorted though

Hi jon me old matey ,lol i dont really know who was taking all the pics ,what happend was on my way back from my longish ride ,i was on the cauldon canal ,and fell upon the stalls at the etruria museum fayre, and in particular, the electric car section ,some guy had built a really old looking electri car ,so i parked my Tonaro Bighit right next to it ,and whilst i spoke to the very interested owner of the old car ,about the Tonaro ,loads of folk started taking pics of me bike lol ,i pointed out ,that the Tonaro Bighit was mine
,which did not seem to make any difference ,and the owner of the Electric car was only too pleased to let folk think that the Tonaro was all part of his Electric car display ,lol

some of the gathering crowds were all so ex members of this forum, and others, after inquiring to where i lived knew my long gone, bless her, Granny lol oh what a day ,
any ways i do have to admit ,that this is a true story ,and i will put the few pics i took, up on this forum,
but i did try to ,slightly mislead my very good friend ,Tiny Tim,oops i did it again, etim i mean lol
as for the lock ,oh silly me ,i wont be doing that again,
very best wishes Brian. ps im not sure who the ex members are but im sure they said they would take a look in.

Hi Jon ,thanks matey.i never thought ,im in longport ,the posh part lol ,we could have rode down together and really stole the Electric show lol,but it was a really good festival ,as you would expect from us stokies.like i said i had travelled out to leek and beyond taking the cauldon canal route , beautiful country side ,and the sun was burning down, and even there ,so many people are fascinated by the electric bike including quite a few Austraileans i bumped in to who were travelling on the boats and thought our canals were brilliant ,they would never have thought that a few years ago ,hey matey, any ways very best wishes,Brian.

ps i thought you may like this ,it was all hapening at the canal festival

Nice photos Brian, was the 'B' on the front of the car especially for you :)

Makes you think that there should be some form of national exhibition of electrically propelled vehicles (including ebikes) travelling side-by-side to these shows, that would certainly raise the profile of electric bikes in the UK.

One location that springs to mind where the ebike dealers, I'm sure, would generate alot of sales would be the Great Dorset Steam Fair - it's about the biggest outdoor event in Europe, the target age group is across the board, there are thousands of caravans, motorhomes, tents on site, so you already have the outdoor lifestyle mindset with an interest in transport.

When I rack-up my bikes on the towbar of my car for transport and then park up anywhere, there will usually be a small crowd of people pointing at the bikes trying to figure them out. I've noticed that the Haibike gets more attention than the Cytronex's which I put down to the stealthy nature of the Cytronex bikes, whereas people appear to notice the Haibike motor almost immediately, making them curious.

HI,etim
you are right there should be a national exhibition of electrically propelled vehicles ,because if yesterday was any thing to go by ,there would indeed be a huge demand and so much interest in the Electic bike,i only went for 5mins on the way back from a briiliant ride ,but i was there two hours answering questions about e/bikes which ,it would have been better if some one like yourself or flecc was there ,and could really give a good run down on the workings and stats, but any way ,the B on the front of the beautiful e/car was not for me lol and i am ashamed to say i am not sure what it stands for but it was that busy and noisy i could not here what the owner said,
oh by the way i know the Great Dorset Steam Fair reall well as i stay in charmouth ,a few miles up the road from there every year in my Romahome ,very best wishes Brian.
