Brexit, for once some facts.
yes, but until a deal is on offer - negotiations of which haven't even started (in public at least) - the outcome is unknown. Both the UK and EU are blustering at the moment - no one yet knows what sort of deal can be reached. Right now its all just posturing by career politicians (who are well know to change positions at the flick of a switch). At the end of the day, no matter what they say now, all sides will want an acceptable solution. And trade and economy will likely trump any other aces either side thinks they are holding. A failure to agree that, is a failure for all parties. Everyone loses. I don't think the EU want to lose any more than the UK does. So I will wait until we know what is on offer.

Until we know what the deal is, we don't know what anyone has up their sleeve. When we do, then people can make an informed decision, rather than endlessly speculate.

Brexit, for once some facts.
Until there is some 'deal' on the table, no one can know whether Brexit is a good idea or not. current market sentiments are precisely due to that uncertainty, not because the terms of any deal are known.

Brexit, for once some facts.
The government's plan has always been fairly obvious to me. Let the pound decline a little further, wait for stocks to eventually start falling when Brexit reality finally sinks in. Then, announce we are staying in the EU, and the Tories and their banker friends will make an absolute killing off the back of the immediate rebound in the markets... They are not interested in 'democracy'. When has that ever been the case? This is all just a great opportunity to manipulate the markets that they couldn't miss up. You don't think any of this isn't planned by "them".... ?

Regardless of whether it is good or bad for the country, I imagine the news that "bankers are leaving the country" will be greeted by half the people as "result!"

eMTB owners photo and ride thread.
Not cheap but here's examples from me using the new GoPro Hero5 using its built in image stabilisation. It's certainly very easy to use, especially as it now has voice commands. Is it 6x better than the cheap but good Chinese clones that cost 6x less? Nope, but it still probably has the best absolute image quality. And the new features in the latest model are good.

Bosch CX latest software update.
Yes. It's hard to tell whether it makes any noticable difference though. Its certainly not "night and day" I cycled to the dealers, said I hear there is an update, and they did it there and then. If they plug it into the diagnostics, it is supposed to tell them there is an update (just like any device you plug into your computer I guess)

For those with an interest in action cams, here's some footage using the new GoPro Hero5 Black with the in-camera IS switched on. Around Swinley forest

Events: 15th NEC Cycle Show Birmingham: 23rd-25th September 2016
Out of interest, would people prefer to see a dedicated eBike show? Personally, I went to the cycle show only to look at eBikes and accessories. Apart from the esoteric and historical 'manual' bikes on show, I took no interest in those stands or bikes. I would certainly attend something like a "London eBike Show" if such a thing was organised.

Yes, there is merit in that. It is a showcase, not a shopping mall.

BMW Cruise e Bike - any good?
I felt rather sorry for the folks staffing the BMW stand at the cycle show. They had a very large stand (but with very few bikes) right in front of you in a prominent position as you walked in the entrance - and everyone walked straight past. The staff looked very forelorn, and twiddled their thumbs all day. I don't think any cyclist visiting a show like that had BMW on their list of things to do.

Events: 15th NEC Cycle Show Birmingham: 23rd-25th September 2016
My sister in law goes to events at the NEC and she gets the train in from Milton Keynes for just £3 on a special deal outside of the rush hour. I would have gone and parked at her house and she would have dropped me at the station, but she was on holiday. But if I go again that's what I would do. As it is, I looked at attending the cycle show as a 'day out'. Go anywhere for a 'day out' these days and its going to cost you a similar price in terms of entry fees and parking. The cycle show and NEC wasn't really that much different. I was disappointed there seemed to be so few retailer 'special offers' that might have made the journey more beneficial financially (I wasn't looking for a new bike, but did want to buy some accessories). The problem perhaps these days is the 'special show prices' they had are little different to everyday prices on Amazon, Wiggle and such...

New 2016 Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB looks good
Funny enough there are quite a few snakes in Swinley forest (i often see lizards too). If they are going to start attacking my bike I am going to cycle elsewhere

New 2016 Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB looks good
I upgraded to the Marathon plus. Been riding around Swinley Forest on them without issue. The only negative I would say is they seem a little harder than the ones I replaced. A stiffer sidewall perhaps. I am running them at 35 psi

Are there 'gold standard' brands/manufacturers?
Clearly we need JD Power to cover eBikes
