  1. So I took it to the locksmiths and they took it into workshop, basically oiled it, kept working the key and brought it back functioning! He thought maybe the key not very well cut.
  2. I'm wondering if I can replace just the lock barrel with a better quality item so it doesn't happen again in future. Having now seen how they attach the lock to the frame it's a shocking design.
  3. The actual latch bolt moves freely but key doesn't turn it. Key barely does quarter turn, stops dead, doesn't feel like just grit in there.
  4. As the title suggests, lock is seized! I eventually got battery off with a combination of twisting key, hitting the lock/battery and swearing! I've removed lock from bike but can't get it to operate. I lube it every ride and bike is less than six months old. The latch pushes in and out freely, it feels like the lock mechanism itself is jammed. I've been told this is a common problem, so does anyone any have any helpful suggestions please? TIA
  5. I admit I just drifted off.. Excellent work, thanks!
  6. Keen indeed! It may as well have still been in German for all I understood!
  7. Thanks for that, excellent reply. I am currently doing building work at a place that does electronics and their guys didn't recognise the plug. Shame as they said they'd swap it for me if I found one.
  8. Reading all this with interest. I have XT 2x10 on my bike and have found ( so far) that I rarely use the front mech at all ( purely trail riding, no road). I was thinking of ditching it to cut down on clutter on the bars but with everyone buying special chainrings, cassettes and derailleur cages when they go 1 x however many am I missing something? Also can I change from trigger to gripshift with the xt? I know I'm weird but I prefer it massively as I badly broke my right thumb a few years back. Regarding the clutch I leave it on permanently only taking it off if I need to remove the wheel, hope that's right!
  9. Swisd Stop pacs are excellent and last well but not cheap.
  10. Does anyone know if the yamaha haibike charger plug and battery port is a standard electrical connection that can be purchased separately? Cheers
  11. So what if you need to tighten or change pedal..?
  12. Anyone done this long term, off road? Any problems snagging sensor wire or losing the magnet? Cheers ☺
  13. That's what I always advise people but not easy to find a mondraker demo and the dealers with demo bikes aren't neccesarily anywhere near me or the ones with the best prices! I'm also on a low budget. I looked at specialized but I've heard too much negative stuff about the brose motor, shame as otherwise it seems very well designed and put together.
  14. Are the + tyres harder or easier to get onto rims also? Will I need to get tougher tyre levers?! Also how are you finding battery life on your Jam2? Looking at Bold2 and Mondraker Vantage
  15. Great replies, thanks! I guess with tubeless changing type of tyres depending on where you're riding has to be more of a long term decision though? I also found maxxis tyres to be excellent have used minions and swamp things in winter, loved those. What's the thinnest/smallest you can run on a + rim then? I'm looking for at an e bike hardtail with + tyres so can see the benefit of the volume but having ridden a full on fat bike I was unimpressed with that.
  16. Like the look of the mondraker, any more feedback from your mate? Is it the hardtail or full suspension?
  17. Who has experience of 650b + tyres? Not tried them, they seem like a good thing and I like the principle but instinct tells me they'd not work well on wet roots and in mud, ie UK conditions! Also do they have to run tubeless due to low pressures? I'm tubelessphobic. Lastly, can't you just fit massive downhill tyres to ordinary wheels and achieve the same benefits? TIA
  18. I've always thought tubeless was a load of faff and on events I've often seen stranded tubeless riders where it's all gone tits and they can't repair it. As you say, you'd still need to carry pump, tyre levers and tube anyway!
  19. RE: the + size tyres. How did you find the grip on wet roots, mud etc? I haven't tried +tyres but demoed a fat bike and found the grip quite poor, particularly on mud. Seemed to me the spaces between the knobblies on the fat tyre were too big/knobblies too small. I'm guessing they also drag a little more than thinner tyres?
  20. We couldn't work put how to adjust suspension, probably need a shock pump and we didn't have time. Shame as it would of ridden much better. Ours had yam motor, crank arm came loose and fell off! I don't miss square taper cranks!
