is an eBike lazy?
I can say my fitness has Improved. Now I leave the car at home and ride to work unless the weather is terrible 13 miles each way. I have lost weight and I don't get breathless on the stairs at work anymore. I can walk faster and generally feel better. I work as a site nurse practitioner so do days and nights. I provide senior clinical support and help manage the hospital in terms of patient flow. This involves a lot of walking and stress. I find Riding home a great stress reliever and I sleep better. So overall a very positive experience with my e bike.

New Yamaha powered e-bikes at £1399
Put the bike into sport mode and you will feel lots of assistance with light pedaling. Unless your son is riding a road bike and is really going for it you would keep up. The giant is a mtb though so the gearing is not like a road bike. It is a heavy bike but then all pedelecs are heavier than standard bikes due to having a battery and motor. The assistance feels like an invisible force pushing you along whilst you pedal.

No throttle. It's pedal assist. It's a really good bike.

Thank you. I will try that.

Also if you rinse the bike down with a hose I find water collects in the battery terminals near the bottom bracket so you need to take the battery off and just dry them off.

Congratulations on your new purchase. You will love it. I love the colour scheme. I know it's not everyones taste but I get admiring glances everywhere I go. Give the battery a charge before first use. Also charge the battery each time you have used it. The battery likes to be used. The giant batteries are guaranteed for 2000 charges so you should get a good life. I love the fact it has a double front chain ring. If you want to upgrade the seat post to a suntour ncx you will need a shim as the suntour is 27.2 and the dirt is 30.9. Anyway enjoy.

I have this bike and I love it. Added a suntour ncx suspension seat post and it's lovely. Changed the saddle to a radius elite. Upgraded the rear derailleur to deore xt shadow and changed the rotors to shimano zee. Changed the rear cassette to deore xt as the supplied one has 12 teeth on the smallest and I wanted 11 teeth for slightly faster speed. Then changed tyres to schwalbe marathon mtb plus which give better rolling resistance. I use the bike for my commute to work which is about 13 miles.

Yamaha 500w battery 2017
When I spoke to giant initially they told me a replacement battery for my dirt E +2 was £425. Then they changed it to £599. That was interesting. At the moment giant are keeping the batteries for warranty claims. So would have to pay a high price to get a second battery at the moment.

Yamaha 500w battery 2017
I found an e bike shop that refurbishes E bike batteries and I Emailed them to see if it would be possible in the future when I need it. They said it was possible but may be restricting it in the future to existing customers only. Seems silly to me if E bikes are becoming more popular. A giant battery costs £599 for my dirt E+2. Luckily I found a ex demo battery on ebay for £260 with only 30 miles on it. Want to try and future proof my investment a little. The giant batteries are different to the yamaha batteries as they are more integrated into the frame even though the giant uses a yamaha motor.
