  1. It looks like that should fit, though without actually trying it you can't be sure. I got one of these on a deal for 25 euros and have been very happy with it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0773JF5BR/ref=twister_B07ZZSJ4JV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 It's big enough to carry all I need for a most day rides (including a Fuji Xt20 + 18-55 lens) and is easy to detach and carry. I wasn't sure how secure the velcro fastening would be, but it's worked perfectly - I've done long journeys over very rough tracks with no issues whatsoever.
  2. Only just seen this. I got Ortlieb Backroller Plus panniers. Have had no issues with them and they fit well.
  3. It seems that there can be variation in the same unit without there being anything identifiably wrong with the motor.   4. I'm 6ft 1' and I've got a 54cm Cube Touring Hybrid which is good for me. I've also tried a 50cm, which was okay - perhaps not the optimum size (was looking at one for my wife) but perfectly rideable. I suspect the 58 cm would be okay too, but 54cm is probably best for me. Re. the equivalent MTB sizes - according to the assistant at the shop we went to the 19' is the equivalent of 50cm and therefore the 21' must be the equivalent of the 54cm touring bike. I tried a 17' which was definitely too small for me, so I guess 19' does equate to 50cm.
  5. My wife is looking at getting a bike and is considering the latest version of the bike I have - a Cube Touring Hybrid Pro. I see that this year's model has the latest Bosch Performance Line Cruise motor in place of the Active Line Plus, which is on mine (and also on the cheaper 2020 Touring Hybrid One version). I understood in the past that Performance Line motors were more powerful (and noisier) and as a result had a smaller range - which seems to be confirmed by the Bosch range calculator here: https://www.bosch-ebike.com/en/service/range-assistant/ (assuming that this is up to date and the Performance Line motor here is the same as the Gen 3 Cruise that is on the latest Cube). This seems odd to me - I would have thought that a quieter motor with greater range would be more appropriate for a Hybrid as opposed to a mountain bike. Certainly these factors are higher on my list of preferences. Is there something I've missed about the latest generation of Performance Line Cruise motors?
  6. I went out on a ride yesterday only for the front socket to detach from the crankset. Sod's law meant it happened the furthest distance from our house and I was forced to walk uphill and coast downhill over the 7 kms back. Prior to this there was little warning. Yes, there was sometimes skipping when changing gears and some chain noise in some gears (but not others). But it didn't seem a major issue and I figured it could be addressed when I took it in for a service next week. Any Forum wisdom would be much appreciated. Is this a common problem? What could be likely causes? Some background info - the bike's a Cube Touring Hybrid Pro. 1 year old - ca. 2,000 kms on the clock. I have washed and lubricated the chain every 2-300 kms. According to my gauge the chain is still okay.
  7. Thanks all for your suggestions. Look forward to hearing how you get on Andy. I've been restricting myself to assistance only on ascents too when I'm on long trips. I reckon ideally, round here where you can easily clock up 1500m of ascents, I could do with a 600w battery. Although, if I had one of those I'd probably be hankering after another 100w. I might get another battery in time but for now I'd prefer to be travelling without the additional weight - not too mention the £500 outlay to buy one. Nev - I'm on my own at the moment and there aren't really opportunities to slip in behind other riders. I stick to little frequented country roads of which there are plenty round here. And when there are bicyclists around most have non-electric road bikes and are either going faster (downhill/flat) or slower (uphill) than me. One thing I wondered is what is the most efficient way to use the motor (I have the Bosch Active Line Plus) - would going up a hill at a faster pace in a higher gear on Tour (not Sports or Turbo as they clearly consume much more power) be better than taking longer in a lower gear on Eco?
  8. What with all the ascents over here I have to be relatively careful about how far I go on a trip. I did 70kms the other day with up to about 1500ms in ascents and still had just about enough juice to still feel comfortable on my return. I guess about 80kms would be about the limit with my current usage of the motor. Anyone got any tips for getting the most out of the battery - other than the obvious use the motor less or go somewhere flat?
  9. I get roughly the same with the same battery/motor combination. Mine fell off the bike when I turned it upside down to make an adjustment after returning from the shop after buying it (the lock isn't very secure - not sure if this is just mine or they're all like this, though I suspect the latter). I was a little concerned I might have impacted its' performance. Though apparently not, judging from your stats. I went on a 65km ride the other day with well over 1,000 metres ascending and I'd just begun the fifth bar on my return (I had been relatively careful not to use Sport or Turbo too much). When I charge the battery it gives a range of 132kms in Eco, which of course diminishes swiftly in use on hills.
  10. The Ortliebs work fine. Only used once, but they seem firmly connected via the hooks at the top and the adjustable bar that hooks round the frame by the wheel.

  13. My inside leg is 35". I've got the cross bar version. Good point about getting your leg over (fnar fnar:-)!) - I really wouldn't want any more height in that regard especially.
  14. I'm 6' 1" (186cms) and I've got the 54cm Hybrid Touring Pro. I'm at the upper limit of the recommended frame size (those between 180-193cms are recommended 54-58cm frames) but I find it absolutely fine.
  15. Thanks for the feedback, both. I've ordered some Ortliebs to try them out - I can always send them back if they don't fit. The 'rack' on the Cube Touring is quite unusual - good from the point of view of stability but not so good when it doesn't accommodate some common pannier systems. Andy - those panniers don't look like they would combine with my trunk rack. In any case, I will need larger panniers if I do some overnight touring as anticipated this summer.
