  1. If the motor is being pressed against the frame by the motor torque, then I think the danger is that motor casing cracks, which is what happened to a friend's bike.
  2. The 'sweep' is usually specified as the 'offset', which is the distance of the axle from the centreline of the steerer. I think traditional fork offset is fairly standard at 45-50mm? If you talk to SJS cycles I'm sure they will know what you need.
  3. Yeah, heatshrink over the connections.
  4. or you're not tightening it correctly https://bike.shimano.com/en-US/information/news/how-to-properly-install-your-shimano-quick-release.html
  5. I think your bike is an untaxed/insured electric motorcycle, no? So moped is probably nearer the mark than bicycle.
  6. I would guess ordinary grease or teflon grease? It looks like water is getting in, so I would look at trying to prevent that if you can.
  7. That seems quite reasonable to me - I think pretty much any product, if you flash it with 3rd party firmware, that would void the warranty. Re the vlcd05, yes the display is pretty basic, just speed, trip, odo etc, and a basic idea of battery charge. But that's been all I've really needed to use the bike. The additional info listed above doesn't look that useful unless you want to play with the parameters with the open source firmware. If you want a better idea of battery voltage, power etc. then I think you can get separate meters to measure those vales I think?
  8. The sensors are not correctly adjusted, they should be triggered by bikes, so you should report this to the council or whoever is responsible for them.
  9. The biggest factor isn't weight or speed, it's how clean the rims/pads are. If you ride a lot in wet/gritty conditions, and you don't keep the rims clean you can wear out rims pretty quickly, in clean/dry conditions they might last 10x longer. It's worth buying good quality pads too like koolstop, some pads are quite abrasive.
  10. 14 years max for death by dangerous driving, only the worst cases get the maximum, assuming the driver is charged at all.
  11. His mistake was hitting someone on a bike. If he'd been driving a car he'd probably have got away with a slap on the wrist.
  12. You shouldn't have a problem patching a modern inner tube, can only assume there is contamination or user error. If you don't want to fix punctures, then sealant in the tubes, marathon plus tyres or similar will reduce the no. of punctures.
  13. Have a read of this https://sheldonbrown.com/frame-spacing.html
  14. I suggest you buy a chain wear checking tool or use a ruler to measure wear on the chain, and replace the chain no later than .75% elongation, that way you'll get more life out of the cassette and chainrings. At that mileage there's a good chance the chain is worn out. Your gearchange problems are most likely down to cable adjustment though, as spitz said.
  15. there are at least a couple of options https://www.pswpower.com/products/europe-or-china-stock-48v-500w-or-48v-750w-vlcd5-or-vlcd6-or-xh-18-lcd-tsdz2-electric-bicycle-mid-motor-with-torque-sensor-65
