1. I don't know, I didn't write the diagnostics software. However apart from that, using a dongle (or even a dingle) that makes the ebike illegal is the buyer's responsibility and they need to be aware that the bike warranty is immediately invalid, that any accident they are involved in will put them at risk of legal action and might also set back the cause for everyone trying to promote and legislate for electric bikes in the UK and EU. Unlikely, but possible.
2. Yes, he will. If you ever take the bike to be serviced or repaired the Bosch diagnostics will pick up the use of the dongle and your warranty will be invalid.
3. Thanks for the warning Frank, I've tried to find out how to be a trade member before but no luck. I've looked at the page you linked and I will be careful not to include any links to our website in the future, if we post on here again. And I wasn't trying to advertise our company particularly, just reply to the discussion with some actual information. Regards John
4. We've been selling the moustache range for two years now and we're very happy with them. The quality is second to none, the amount of work that goes into their design and the passion that this company have for what they are doing is really different and, as is obvious from the comments here, makes them stand out from the (increasingly crowded) umm - crowd. They are a small independent company, run by some guys who come from the worlds of cycle design and competitive mountain biking. The 2014 range has some interesting innovations such as the MTB with 29" front and 27.5" rear wheel setup, which starts at £2599 and as you have noticed goes up to £4899 for the very top of the range "Gold" edition. This is far from being a mere fashion statement, the bikes have been designed to be used seriously offroad and have been thoroughly tested in the nearby Vosges mountains. The larger front wheel gives the benefits of a 29er with the increased torque and manoeuvrability of a 27.5" rear. Offroad use isn't for everyone, and we reckon they've been brave to introduce such a novel concept. Their 26" wheel MTB is still available too. They've introduced a variety of specifications for the new MTB range, which will be appearing on our website very soon. Other than that they are also introducing lightweight road bikes (18kg), an increased range of trekking bikes and some City bikes that show their dedication to innovative design, balance, rider comfort and precision build. For a very small company we think they are brave, clever and destined for great things. And as with any company producing innovative quality products they are never going to be everyone's cup of tea. But they're certainly not bland and are attracting a lot of interest. I hope that's useful. If anyone wants more information let us know or contact any Moustache dealer, they are hoping to enrol more throughout the UK before next year. Regards John Velospeed www.velospeed.co.uk ** Oh yes, why "moustache"? The handlebars on many models are bespoke designed and made, in a "moustache" shape. Incidentally this approach (design, not shape) is taken with other components such as mudguards which have been specially designed by the company - rather than using off the shelf products.
5. Hi Bill Just logged in to Pedelecs today for the first time in ages and saw your post. I'm very happy to display the Trade Member logo, can somebody tell me how to do it? Cheers
6. Hi Barclay Just checking back and I saw your post. I don't know if you got any further with your investigations, but we're currently the UK's only retailer of Moustache bikes. We're helping Moustache set up a UK dealer network so there shouldbe more outlets soon. If you want any more information just let us know. Regards John Velospeed
7. Hi Feanor Have you looked at bikes equipped with a NuVinci hub? There are quite a few of these available now, including the moustache range, which might be worth a look. As for replacing batteries, if you go for a reputable brand then they will still have replacements available for the foreseeable future. Hope you find something that fits the bill. Regards John
8. Hi Hanslowmo The Moustache 2013 range all have the new Bosch electronics, you can have a look at them on our website if you're interested - especially the MTB versions: moustache electric bikes Cheers, John
9. South Stoke would have been very easy! I must nip down to the Perch and Pike again soon. If you do want to try the Batribike just let us know. Good luck with everything John Velospeed Electric Bikes
10. Hi, If you want to try the Batribike trike we have one in stock. We're just up the A34 and have sold plenty of Batribikes in your area. The Batribike is almost exactly the same as the Veliac but a tad cheaper (and silver)! Whatever you like the look of make sure you give it a good try out. Hope that helps! John Velospeed
11. Ah no I can see you're in Cheshire! There may well be a Batribike dealer who has one of these much closer, you can find out from their website Where to Buy a Batribike Electric Bikes - Lincolnshire & across the UK BATRIBIKE Electric Bicycles Best regards John
12. We're in West Berkshire, near Newbury/Reading - not far from the M4 & A34. Are you anywhere nearby?
13. Hi Tom The Veliac Three is very similar to the Batribike trike that we have in stock. The tilting mechanism takes a little bit of getting used to but after half an hour or so it really makes cycling (tricling?) much easier. The Batribike also has a 36v 10amp battery and a throttle. My wife is much taken with it and its large rear basket and the ones we've sold have proved very popular. I'll try to attach a picture of it... I hope that's useful, let me know if you need more information. John Velospeed
14. Just to add to this thread, the moustache range of Bosch equipped bikes are available with the Nuvinci hub as an option. We find it adds some weight but this is more than made up for by the ease of use and simplicity that it brings. We've started selling these bikes in the UK and will be looking to recruit more dealers for the French company. Cheers John Velospeed
15. Dave, you're not green but I am - with envy. Post a pic!
