  2. when i first got my powabyke there was a squeaking every so often,i traced to the magnets rubbing against the sensor. i adjusted the disc and everything has been ok since then but i do periodically inspect it
  3. mine should be ok now,,but if i have problems at least i have learnt how to do it......the hard way..............
  4. Panic is over..its now ok. After wiping the smallest gear a small slot was revealled. Out of this slot onto the floor dropped a small peg about half the size of my fingernail ! How i found it on the garage floor i haven't got a clue. I must have walked over it a dozen times....it could have been long gone. Bike is now working again and i will now have a peaceful sleep.
  5. i just decided to check the grease in the motor...pulled it to bits grease is quite sloppy....is this right....or should i get rid and put new grease in ,if so what kind ? Decided to put it back together but now the motor appers to turn inside but wheel doesnt move, there only appear to be 3 gears so gas anybody any ideas as to what may be wrong,....cheers

  10. i think the biggest problem maybe the weather !! i thought this global warming was all about increase in temperature and less water...somebody forgot to tell him up there because in my part of the country we have just had two tropical rainforest type summers...
  11. I think its is generally people who have never ridden a bike since they were about 5...People who have ridden a bike on the road tend to give you a wide berth and appreciate the problems....HGV drivers generally seem to be better than the rest..White van man,Range Rover,Sportscars and boy/girl racers tend to be complete t*ssers...
  12. i agree that there are lots of places where it can't be done, but i also know of lots of places where there are big wide footpaths and no pedestrians and also grass verges which in themselves cost a lot to maintain which could create cycle lanes. There is a road which used to be a suicide road near me (3 lanes, middle one overtaking both ways) which is now a wide two lane road(still a suicide road) which could easliy incorporate a cycle lane, both ways !! This road is frequently used by cyclists. By starting with roads like these and then creating links later we could create some sort of a cycle network. The planners shouldn't allow any new roads unless they have cycle lanes. Its going to cost but if they want cars off roads and everyone to start being more enviromentally friendly then they will have to start somewhere.
  13. I have just got back from Palmyre near Royan in Southwest France and have thoroughly enjoyed the miles of cycle paths running alongside roads, through forests and along the coast. Many an english voice was heard to say ' this is like being on motorways at home'. And how right they were, except that these were cycle motorways ! I have never seen so many bikes on the road at once, children, old people, families and numerous others enjoying cycling in a safe enviroment. Cycles with trailers with children, dogs, boats you name it it was there.......my wife actually got on her bike and enjoyed it,safely, with no moaning !! we have a very long way to go......send the MPs(at there own expense) on holiday there for a week to see how it works, they could learn a lot.
  14. i hope not...i am driving down to chunnel on way to Royan,,,if it has to happen let it be before 9am...i would hate to travel all that way for nothing......a complete waste of petrol...doh !

I agree it was a magical opening something that we haven't a chance of matching,,lets hope our team win lots of drug free medals then we will be the true winners......As for 2012....yes a downgraded ceremony...a team of ebikers riding around the new stadium....with exch countrys flag.....what a spectacle !!
  17. i now have a cateye 500g,,,my first mirror was a blackburn type which my wife knocked off while walking past...she hasn't been as successful with the cateye as its better quality......yet !
  18. Rod, i think you are confusing Powabyke with Powacyle, two completely different companies....and two different bikes, but will be in the same market as the Cytronex all come in at around £1000 with similar battery sizes/range
  19. i think that is so that you can still tell that it is an electric bike.....! sorry Flecc....
  20. The official figures wil be launched soon but i think the bike was about 23/24 kg with battery. Initially i think it was quoted at 27kg in its earlier days but they managed to get a bit more weight off. The battery..again i think...was 6amp lithium. My apologies if i am not exact on these figures
  21. i got the general impression that 20 mile is conservative but you have to be where batteries are concerned. I think a longer range would be advantageous but given the bike should be under £1000 and the batteries approx £170, if you need the range you just need more batteries. If Franks estimate poves correct then they seem good value.
  22. i have started saving right now,the money i had for the lithium battery is now going ito the new commuter version.....please mr lotto.............
  23. I have just got back from a very wet Rochdale after viewing the new Powabyke stepthru and the prototype cross bar version..Poor Frank sheltering under a tent waiting for people to demonstrate the new bikes to. The bikes will have a bottle type battery which should give a range of about 20 miles (apparently after a survey this was considered the mileage most people ride, pesonally i would have liked to achieve 50 miles) but you could always buy another battery to double the range. For tha same price as a Kalkoff you could have another 2 batteries and 60mile range. The bikes are considerably lighter than the old ones which will still be available and they use the same motor. Wheel size is increased to 28 inches with skinny tyres . The frames are more stylish than the old ones. I had a test ride which was very enjoyable, a lot more like a conventional bike, very light handling and it seemed to have a quicker acceleration than the old Powabyke. Should be available in september, a great bike.... If it is as reliable as the old ones it will be a surefire winner.
  24. i like the bit where its says it is not effective against deaf dogs !!! doh !!
