  1. Damm you D8veh Using facts and diagrams to explain. It wouldn't be allowed in the brexit thread I assure you.
  2. Gear puller shouldn't touch the plastic. Or try a screw in crank extractor this one £7 from halifrauds Have a google.
  3. The sv650 is a good hill climber and can be got for £4K secondhand.
  4. I have done several thousand miles crank drive commuting. I like the way the bike responds and had no real issues with chains. Have had bbs01 fail and 4*4 stains :mad:on the Panasonic CD system.
  5. Wow that's quite a collection. Welcome from the not too sunny uk. We get a lot of rain here so don't try solar panels. What about a velomobile, good for fitting panels and very low drag to make best use of the energy.
  6. £34 you must be nice to your customers or summat
  7. Disturbed contacts, yes check ALL the cables. Worst case is a dry joint pcb fault that moved when you played with the lights
  8. For £1000 an eBay frame with disk brakes and a kit. There isn't any huge difference in efficiency between modern hub motors. A crank could be better but it's still likely to be marginal. The salesman was bullshtting. More amps more range. Higher speed or assistance less range. That's it.
  9. The rule is more amps more range. The effort you put in makes a huge difference to the range. Test ride and test again.
  10. Test ride and test ride some more. That's the most important thing to do.
  11. It's heavy at 22kg with very basic everything. But it's dam cheap. Not posh stylish the trendiest. With no competition it would get mrs new biker to the shops and back with a big smile on her face. For not so much money..
  12. Yes you could, bafangs are adaptable and they come in hub and crank( mid) drive. Ask here if its doable D8veh knows how to adjust most kits. SW can advise on where to get dongles for posh bikes. And I will say, it's not worth the risk going illegal. 15 mph uphill is fast. You will out run any normal cyclist in the hills on an ebike. If you have an accident you could lose any claim against the 4*4 etc that hit you.
  13. Be expanding the civil service then to write and verify all these.
  14. Bristol isn't far. You can visit for some test rides and explore other options. Woosh have been a best budget but her in the past. Not sure what's currently the best alternative ( whisper spring to mind)
  15. Nothing to stop you from testing a few bikes there. You may be able to negotiate a cash offer?
  16. Ignore the 500+ watt claims the bbs 01 can run at over 800watts, the rating system is pants. A legal kit like that can do 20+ mph on the flat with very little effort.( if the speed was de restricted. Any motor marked greater than 250 watts is automatically illegal, it doesn't matter what power it really has or speed limit.
  17. You are the major unknown here. That bike would normally allow me to easily do 20 miles in 1.5 hours. I would consider 100 ft of climbing in a mile as virtually flat. If my athsma was playing up I couldn't do 2 miles on it. We are same age but I'm 100kg if that helps. The speed you expect is important too. Doing 10 mph is easy and shouldn't require much from the bike. Trying to do 16 mph is much harder. The most important rule is to test ride multiple bikes first. Do that and you should have a good idea of your range and bikes abilities.
  18. There are only two issues that people have. 1 getting the cranks off, tool kit from Lidl helps here. 2 dremmeling out the bottom bracket, if needed. Or you could use a file. Otherwise it's plug and play.

Richard Feynman and Joyce grenfield two very funny interesting intelligent people.
  20. Could be the answer. Batteries are the biggest hit.
  21. You already have the 8fun kit and battery. Time for a eBay new bike to fit it too
  22. Fuse is first thought. If it was trying to pull too much current. Worst case is motor or controller burn out was there any smell?
  23. No lots of em
