Eddie, there you go,the home page of the Grace 'German' website shows the 'German' Grace e-bikes from the Puxi side of the river in Shanghai. These Germans certainly know where to find quality!!!!!!!

For heavens sake! Just look at the bikes! it matters not where the parts are produced....

You really haver a lot to learn regards "style"!lol

first time Ive looked at these bikes

Is that the batteries on the bottom frame?

Just like a Powabyke Shopper

Funny, I thought that too, nice view of the Pudong business district from the Bund.

Below is my photo of the same view on not such a clear or sunny day or touched up with Photoshop.

If you look very closely at the ferry you will see the logo of another famous German company that manufactures in China.

And this one shows a well known Shanghai based electric bike manufacturer taken in the same location, but he was not made in China.

I have a great bike in the specialised crosstrail ltd disc, and can't see any kit from you, or anyone else that could perform or do better or be as practical (battery easy to remove)

I see we are back to the childish nonsense that you lot of bottom feeders spouted when I first introduced the bike on here.......I also like the BioniX and yes it is better looking

What a bunch.......not one of you have a desirable bike IMO

At least we don't ride girls' bikes - apart from Lynda.

Thats strange....I had thought this thread was about the german company, who sell Grace bikes, commendable business acumen that leads them to purchase quality parts from China ....

Not about childish remarks about living rooms and jealous tantrums over Dave's amazing collection of fantastic bikes.

I wish I had the knowledge to do what you do Dave.....and I have a feeling that a certain person on here is eaten up with jealousy.......it would be amusing though..... if it wasnt so childish and rude .....but I suppose thats how he gets his kicks, not being adept and knowledgeable enough to do what you do Dave......keep up the good work......Viva China !! ......I just hope the boats get faster looks like there are LOTS of excellent companies needing their parts :D

I'd take that as a compliment, nothings better than a tig torch & bottle of argon as a conversation piece

It could equally be showing that the young man rode the bike to China to demonstrate it's German made quality and as a statement that a Chinese bike probably wouldn't achieve the same. :p

Yawn.........

Many upmarket European products are now being sold in China, (BMW, Ferrari, Bentley, Audi etc) including VERY high end bikes, maybe no one has noticed? It is most of these brand's biggest and most lucrative market place.

Consider, China is the biggest buyer of electric bikes in the world...... by a long long way. Why on earth would anyone serious about growing their electric bike business not consider tackling this MASSIVE market? If we managed to get 1% of 1% of the Chinese electric bike market we could all retire very happily and buy a bigger boat than even Dave's!!

We too are offering German built Wispers in China and already have 3 dealer orders for 2013.

For what it's worth, I have been to the German factory and seen Grace bikes being made. They are made in the same building as the Daimler Mercedes SMART bikes exactly where our 2013 bikes will be built.

All the best

The frame used to be Nicholai ?

Nicholai is a very famous bike designer specializing in superb mountain bike frames, a really first rate engineer. He was involved with all three of the Grace bikes and the Daimler Mercedes Smart. He doesn't copy stuff he actually designs it himself, very German!

NICOLAI Maschinenbau GmbH (Not for the faint hearted, Nicholai's frames can cost more than £2,000!)

All the best

From the man who has a Daa Hub?

The guy who has had a DaaHub for over a year, loves it and still feels it has made his converted bike the best electric bike available. And this is a guy that knows electric bikes and is not worried about spending a few quid in pursuit of excellence. Yep that's what I call style! :)

One day hopefully more people will be able to ride such a machine, with a solid superbly designed DaaHub kit smoothly powering it along.

All the best

David

Sorry one more thing.......

Our frames for instance are STILL being made in China as are many other parts of our bikes. Chinese factories when properly managed can be as good as anywhere else in the world, unfortunately though many are not well run and the 48 hours it takes me to get from Kemsing to Kunshan and back to sort out problems is just too much for my aging brain and body! Two weeks ago I was back at the new factory in Germany in not much more time that it would take me to go to Glasgow, in my car, so much more comfortable.

We are delighted that we have made the jump and I expect that you will see a lot more companies like Wisper making the move soon. I know of two that are mentioned a lot on this forum who are also in the process. We are fortunate in owning our frame's and many other component's design and tooling though. I would expect companies that simply re badge a Chinese bike would have bigger problems.

If anyone would like my help or advise in moving out of China and into Europe, I would be more than happy to oblige. I am sure everyone knows in their hearts it is the right move?

All the best

David :)

Obviously the kit is not immediately in the offing , but is it a reasonable possibility in the not too distant future or are you no longer looking at releasing this to the UK. David?

Obviously you won't want to divulge too much ...... but a statement of intent would suffice

I would imagine it is a decent kit David when it is re released here, I think the problem is that the said owner of this kit seems to have taken umbrage at some mickey taking last year over the....how can I put it.......rather 'phallic' appearance where he had fitted it and seems to have taken to a rather abrupt and rude manner in answering any perceived criticisms and also seems to think that lots of money equals excellent bikes, when we all know that isnt necessarily so.......although it often is.

Personally I am really pleased that he loves his daa hub fitted bike so much, that is great, I just wish he would accept others choices in the bikes that they love too without reverting to constant verbal abuse.

That, in my mind, only proves that "spending a few quid in pursuit of excellence" doesnt necessarily always prove style, but sometimes can show bad manners and grace (excuse the pun ) :D

Lynda :)

Like the erect motor on the Tonaro? :p

OMG what an abomination! Hard to believe but even worse looking in the flesh.....

Edited by eddieo

Come on Flecc....it blends in a lot better on the Tonaro and the point is he actually made a choice to put it where he did.....us Tonaro owners have no choice.....although the one on my Esprit is much less erect....obviously lol ....I AM a lady :) ....and whats more I even made it a designer knitted jumper to lessen any inappropriate comments :D :D
