March 10, 201412 yr I'll be in Brighton in April for the Brighton Music Conference, you may have to point out the hot spots for me! (or the places a straight 40 something should avoid) I've lived in or around Brighton for the past 48 years. Gay, straight, non brits or whoever you are, you will be welcome in most places, that is why so many from all walks of life visit Brighton.
March 11, 201412 yr SRS, have you watched or taken part in the Brighton Big Dog MTB race? I'd never heard of it until a couple of days ago. I was searching for other events to enter, and that came up. As you have been in Brighton for that length of time, you must have had your haircut at least once in Freddies. All best people had their flat tops cut there.

I wasn't having a knock, SRS, just being a bit tongue in cheek 'regionalist' as jackhandy would say;)
March 11, 201412 yr Hi Eddie Nope, never watched or taken part in Big Dog, had some mtb mates years ago, think they took part. Stanmer Park, I believe. Not into racing myself, spend my working days competing hard for business. Come leisure time, I can go at a pretty reasonable pace when I choose. Mostly I ride at whatever pace I feel like on the day. My way of chilling. As for the hair, diy and have done since I can remember. Not tight, just convenient and quick.
March 11, 201412 yr I wasn't having a knock, SRS, just being a bit tongue in cheek 'regionalist' as jackhandy would say;) Nothing wrong with a bit of light banter. I just like to put the word out, Brighton has a lot to offer for everyone.
March 13, 201412 yr I work at the local Hospital, and a LOT of people see my bike and comment - they think it's awesome - especially when they ask where I live and realise the hills I cross. This week (besides breaking 2 spokes) I've passed 4 teens, walking their bikes up a hill heading to the Mountain Bike Park I live next door to AND reached the point where I've lost 20KG since Christmas, racked up 750 miles at an average of 14.5MPH (the hills, remember!) anad have saved NZ$300 (150 pounds) in fuel - almost enough to pay for all the bike parts I've ordered!
March 13, 201412 yr I was once told by someone that "bikes were designed for exercise". Hmm funny I could have sworn they were designed as a mode of transport.
March 13, 201412 yr Shame I'm not bringing my bike with me to Brighton! Back on topic, at work I was told by one of the managers that saw me chaining up my bike " So why are they not classed as a scooter? And why do you not need a licence or insurance? It's not fair". Stop complaining and get on your bike she was told.
March 16, 201412 yr My son refers to mine as "the moped" but on a recent ride out.. Him (late 30's, carbon racer, me mid 60's bosch/Scott mtb) after 32 miles and 3500ft of climbs he was thoroughly beaten. (based on how long I had to wait at the top of the big hills!) Such fun!
March 16, 201412 yr Yes only have one as they are quite expensive! Perhaps there's a new thread there!

March 16, 201412 yr That's amazing ! I guess your average speed must have been low then ? 12.5.. It cuts out at 15.5 anyway
March 16, 201412 yr I bought an Hr monitor and I now ride using that and ease off when it gets too high. This has increased my range tremendously.
