September 23, 201411 yr Have had a reply back from Revolights in the US. Shipping to the UK would be $60 which on top of the $199 asking price (plus UK VAT) makes for an expensive set of lights. They do seem to work well though. Michael They have a UK agent in London http://www.pedal-pedal.co.uk/lighting/bike-lights/revolights-uk/revolights-city-wheels.html
September 23, 201411 yr They have a UK agent in London http://www.pedal-pedal.co.uk/lighting/bike-lights/revolights-uk/revolights-city-wheels.html They do, but unfortunately only for the complete wheels, fitted with the older "city" lights. The ones to fit to your own wheels aren't available here. Michael
September 23, 201411 yr You can always rely on Martin for the, er, gold-plated solution: https://www.e-bikeshop.co.uk/Accessories/moon-x-power-2500-lumen-front-light Martin has found out that some people are happy to pay £2000 for device that kicks you in the nuts when you pull a lever on the bars, so I'm sure he can keep a straight face while they queue up for that light at only £280. Here's one of my favourites, especially the ending:

September 23, 201411 yr I know about it because he put the saddle down and told me to lift my bum and pull the lever. What he should have said was, "pull the lever and lift your bum". I had wrongly assumed that there was a damper in it. Twang! The pain was excruciating. I bet he has a laugh every time I write about it.
September 23, 201411 yr I bet he has a laugh every time I write about it. I wonder if his sequencing of commands was intentional ...
September 24, 201411 yr Another good thing is when you ride on the paths through the sink estates and encounter gangs of youths. Heh...I just avoid the sink estates entirely.

We call it the day-light.. because it can light up the pavement outside brighter than the sun.. Ever been driving along and seen something coming towards you and thought what the f**k is that??!! This is THAT. Martin
September 24, 201411 yr That's what I was thinking too. Dave - Fancy another go one one of my bikes this weekend?? We have the 'nut-cracker' on demo in the eBike Village (NEC).
September 24, 201411 yr Not sure if anyone ordered the bangood light. I just got an email saying I'll have mine in 2 weeks I shall report back once setup and tested

September 24, 201411 yr Hi.Back on lights and now the Nights & the Mornings are getting darker I did this to my Freego Eagles saddle bags and it really shows up in the dark and people in cars have commented on it while passing !!! its EL wire and runs off 2 AA battery's and about 3 pound from ebay. Or if you haven't gotPanniers you could put them down your frame !!!!!!!. Steve.
September 24, 201411 yr If you want to be seen, get one of these jackets. There's a very bright back light on the bike, but it's totally swamped by the jacket. In fact you don't even need lights when you wear one of those jackets: http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq236/d8veh/lights/jacket.jpg
September 24, 201411 yr Looks like my Hi Viz jacket which I sometimes wear in the winter but it makes me to hot ??.
September 24, 201411 yr My backpack, which I always wear when on the road, wears a small/medium hi-viz vest. Edited September 25, 201411 yr by jackhandy

The increasing effectiveness of the cutoff on dipped beam with projector headlights means there's not much light up above the cutoff to reflect back. Doesn't stop me trying mind, but I think I'm going to clip reflectors onto my SPD pedals this winter! Michael
September 24, 201411 yr Looks like my Hi Viz jacket which I sometimes wear in the winter but it makes me to hot ??. They're great for those really cold winter days. Forget expensive bike gear. Even in sub-zero temperatures, I have to unzip mine a bit to cool down.

You have to see one in the dark to believe it.

September 25, 201411 yr Hi Vis jackets are bright in car headlights but I'm not riding in a plastic sweat jacket.
September 25, 201411 yr Hi Vis jackets are bright in car headlights but I'm not riding in a plastic sweat jacket. Alright, keep your hair on. They're not compulsory - yet.
September 25, 201411 yr I'm not concerned about that - they're not going to be made compulsory, and neither are helmets for that matter (although I do wear a helmet some of the time). No, what concerns me is the inevitable victim blaming whenever a cyclist is serious injured or killed by a motorist.

These jackets are like invisibility cloaks in the daytime, but if someone knocks you off at night time, they can hardly say, "I didn't see him", when your lying there so bright that people have to shade their eyes.
