Another night of fun!

I'm still trying to piece together the route for the proposed eMTB group night ride, but might now need to re think a section of the 20 mile route.

One section is hard enough to ride and work out in the day time, and riding at night, has twice proven to be impossible. Last night might have forced a major rethink, as I became lost and disoriented. All good fun!

The blue line represents the correct route, so two mistakes last night.

One thing is certain, this ride won't suit anyone that wants to keep either their bike or themselves clean! :D The date is yet to be confirmed, as two of the three Levo owners, don't have working bikes.

I use View Ranger for this allows the wife to check up on where I am, although no auto crash alerts.

I've already got viewranger on my android, didn't realise i could set it up so that it could be used to track me... is this the "buddy" feature?

I have been riding alot these past days. So beatiful days. And I have now got all systems nominal. Today my rear brake worked good, as new. That combined with lust for riding, good weather and good traction. Think I broke some records today, very good flow and found the most joyful routes on last ride. See photo for one example. Totally awesome.

Summer arrived early today. Took long way to work and home again.

North, south, east, west.

Wish i was there :(

Couple of boring night ride shots. It's getting chilly, -1C.

I was using my smaller Lezyne Microdrive 450XL light and without helmet light it was quite a challenge.

But the main reason I posted, look what I got. A Specialized Turbo Levo Comp 2017. The bike has its own quirks, but I just love the way it rides and pedals. It's so smooth and a beast on trails. This was my first short ride with it. More to follow this weekend.

Nice colour, off out tonight over cwmcarn : )

Here's my 2017 KTM Kapoho. I have about 60 miles on it thus far. Swapped the Magura fork out for a Fox 36, converted to tubeless, swapped a few parts out (seatpost, saddle, stem, bar, grips), upgraded front rotor to 203mm, derestricted the Bosch unit, and added a Mucky Nutz fender. Built up a new front wheel to fit the Fox 15mm axle.

I also put some rubber pads on the back of the battery along with a velcro strap to reduce battery chatter to almost nothing.

Now it's nearly perfect!

you can adjust the top part where the key goes if it wobbles about as you can move it up and down a bit and sort that out ;)

i got 203 rotors front and back :p

The noise in the fork is definitely internal - 99% sure it's the way the bushings operate in the Boltron, which is very unique. In any case, there's a Fox on there now so problem solved.

I had a second proper ride on my Specialized Turbo Levo Comp.

Off to the trails, surprisingly there was some snow left from the first snow we got couple of weeks ago. +8C and overcast result in dull photos.

Some rocky descent. The suspension works great on the Levo.

A rare treat here, smooth and flowy trail.

..and back to the rock gardens

This is where your Christmas trees come from

I could not resist riding down here, you can see the track. But getting back up, uhhuh, deep, wet, soft sand. Even the gentle slope would have been too much for a fat bike. Good workout pushing the bike up.

Small trees everywhere. And a rock. And a bike.

30 km total. Bike worked and especially handled great. But I had only 19% left of the battery when finished. Rode trail setting at 40% (old firmware). I will have the firmware updated next week and I need to play with the settings to get more mileage out of the bike.

Well that was kind of an interesting day.

It started with visit my friends mtb shop, to take a look at the new Orange that he has in stock as a demo bike. The idea had been to take it out and to get a few photos, but I got the feeling that he didn't want me getting it muddy, so it was just a quick spin around the car park instead.

Four things struck me about the bike, firstly what stupid place to position the on off switch, right where every bit of crap going will hit it on the downtube, the second was what a pain the battery is to remove, third up is something that surprised me, and that was how much louder that the Shimano motor was when compared with my Bosch CX DU, and lastly, how superbly easy that it was to pedal completely unassisted. Far more so than the Bosch DU.

Horrid and bulky downtube aside, it was lovely bike with plenty of bling if that is what you are into, but it doesn't do it for me, and neither does the price.

After this, I just headed out for some local fun on my own bike. A morning of heavy rain, and muddy fun. Time to head off for a pint, and a read of Singletrack magazine. :)
