Electric bikes for 14 year old boy

Featured Replies

Hi, my son has recently tunred 14 and has asked if he can have an electric bike (I already ride one hence his interest). He is fairly short for his age so currently he is still riding a 24 inch bike. Are there any electric bikes available in this size, preferably a mountain style bike ?

that would be the Kudos Sprint.

The picture below is not 100% accurate but you get the idea.

Woosh have one similar second hand (not called the Alamo but woosh Compact) if you are interested.

Seems to me like Kudos/woosh are missing a trick here. There must be a market for sub £1k bikes for the youngsters who are too young or hard up for a moped/car but who need mobility, and don't want to look like they nicked grannies shopper.

I will build something for the boy in 5 years when he needs transport.

These lads are happy enough on this e-bike. They're Dutch of course, far too sensible to be obsessed with fashion:

Thank you for your responses. I have show him your suggestions and he very much likes the KTM and the HaiBike, no surprises there!

None of my business but an e-bike at 14 could very easily rob the joy of pure cycling from him.

My 2p, spend the money on a quality bike and encourage him to use it fully. He can get an e-bike when he is too old/infirm/overweight to climb the hills on his own.

Just imagine in 5 years time going on a training session with him on a carbon framed lightweight beauty and you pacing him on your ebike. All I had to pace me was the back of a dirty diesel bus!

In an odd way, that is kind of cool. :)

Even better, a short guy like me who's not sat on a bike for 47 years can ride it with confidence!
