July 20, 20178 yr So at first I wanted to mount a 1500W rear hub kit on my bike but some here suggested that it might not be great idea due to weight and power draw. So now I'm thinking about getting the bafang BB02B 500W 36V kit with a 14.5Ah battery. Now I would like to know what range I can expect from that setup and what would be top speed and hill climbing with it (my weight is about 74kg). http://eclipsebikes.com/product_info.php?products_id=28{1}1 http://eclipsebikes.com/product_info.php?products_id=142 Anyone used eclipsebike.com before.? Are their batteries trustworthy.? Thanks.
July 20, 20178 yr Rather than the 500w one, get the 25 amp 36v one from Em3ev. It's the same, except that it's stamped 250w, so it's legal. They have some nice batteries too, so you can get everything from them. Eclipse batteries are good. Nobody can say how much range you'll get because they don't know how hard you're going to pedal, nor do they know what conditions you'll encounter in your rides, and, lastly, they don't know how much power you're going to use. you can do some calculations. 25 amps will drain a 12Ah battery in about half an hour. That's enough power to cruise at 30 mph without pedalling, in ideal conditions. That would give a range of 15 miles. If you think you'll be using maximum power a lot, get a battery with 30Q cells.
July 20, 20178 yr Author get the 25 amp 36v one from Em3ev Aren't they US based.? I'd rather buy from UK based company. Also their 25A version is labelled as 500W.
July 20, 20178 yr Aren't they US based.? I'd rather buy from UK based company. Also their 25A version is labelled as 500W. Honk Hong based run by an ex pat, they do both 25a @250 & 500w laser marked. Advantage with 250w is it legally marked and you have to ask for it.
July 20, 20178 yr They are experts with the BBSxx motors. They helped Bafang develop them to make them more reliable. Their support is exemplary, even though they're based in HK. there's a fair chance that you won't have to pay duty on their stuff. it seems that Customs are more lenient with HK stuff for some reason. If I were to order another one, I'd get it from them again. I get nearly all my stuff from China and other foreign sources. I don't get problems. Just one thing though; you have to be sure that you order the right stuff, because sending stuff back isn't an option. I did mess up a couple of times in maybe 100 orders, so I sold the stuff on Ebay and made a profit.
July 20, 20178 yr I love your idea of messing up: 1. order wrong product 2. sell on ebay 3. profit!!!

July 21, 20178 yr They kept that one quiet. Brightonbikes, can you confirm the default current? Is it 25 amps? Sorry I cant,I just saw the link on pedelecforum.de. But EM3EV dosent have the 250w bbs02 anymore.
July 21, 20178 yr Sorry I cant,I just saw the link on pedelecforum.de. But EM3EV dosent have the 250w bbs02 anymore. Anyway this guy in Norway was the first to sell them as far as I know. They are 25a 250 w version very nicely programmed. He still have them elsykkel@ebikekit.no
July 27, 20178 yr Author So in the end I went for the 500W kit from eclipsebikes and I'm super happy with it. This thing can easily do 30mph when pedaling and it's whisper quiet. For some reason braking doesn't stop the motor so I'm not sure whether it's faulty or I didn't mount it right.
