pedal assist settings don't change motor power.

Hi all,

I have a 17A Kt controller, running a 250W front hub motor, with a KT-LCD5 display, and a 20AH battery. The power output from the motor does not change when I change the power setting between 1 and 4. It is probably a programme setting. Can anyone help ?? all items are new except the motor, which is a Swytch .

You likely have it set as a speed controller , there is only one setting that can change this and that is P3. value 0 is for speed control and 1 is for current control.

Hi Nealh, thanks for that, P3 is set to 1, so I'll change it to zero tomorrow , and I'll try it out.

Thanks Rig the jig.

It should be set to 1 for variable power.

Hi I tried changing P3 to zero, no luck. I'll give you the current settings for a 12 Mag PAS. 36V motor (Swytch) with a 36V battery and a 17Amp KT controller. P1=96 P2=1 P3=1 P4=0

P5=10

C1=2 C2=0 C3=8 C4=0 C5=10 C6=3 C7=0 C8=0 C9=0 C10=n C11=0 C12=4 C13=0 C14

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Rig the Jig.

Just curious - you have a P1 of 96. Does your max speed work ok i.e. if you set max speed to 25kph, do you feel it cut out at around 15mph?

On my swytch hubs, I had to double the P1 setting to 192 before the speed settings behaved themselves and we have similar controllers, so maybe this could be part of your problem?

It would be a good idea to check whether any settings are having an affect on your controller. Don't bother with the settings that only affect the display. It has to be something that the controller does, like switch off PAS or throttle.

That did the trick, setting P1 to 192 made a big difference. Thanks so much for the great information. How about putting a link up for those that want to replace their swytch battery, controller, and display, but keep the front motor hub. Is that possible ?? Thanks again for all the help, its gold.

Rig the jig.

Pleased it worked for you!

Yes, I’d like it if there was a repository here for information that shouldn’t age and can be added to/corrected. On the VX220 forum (a few years ago now) we had a “Knowledge” section for that sort of thing (how to’s) Maybe we already have that, but I haven’t seen it myself.
