May 11, 2025May 11 A very long winded way of describing a mix of sewing machine oil and gearbox oil. His chain oil is 10% / 90% for short attention span readers. He started with 90 grade gear oil, then thinned it down with sewing machine oil for some reason. The whole point of the 90 grade is that it stays on the chain. If you wanted thinner, you could buy 80 grade instead, or even 70 grade, but there's no point.
May 12, 2025May 12 I use engine oil and have no problems chain run through a oily sponge then run through a clean cloth . done this way back in the early 70s
