March 31, 201016 yr Thanks Alex I am counting on you! I too agree with Tim, BEBA need the likes of the new magazine to get our message across. My point is that decent electric bike suppliers need as much publicity as possible! Having been kindly sent a couple of editions of Velo Vision I think the Electric Bike Magazine will be fantastic! All the best David

March 31, 201016 yr I have subscribed, but is the intention for this mag to be available in the high street?
March 31, 201016 yr I have subscribed, but is the intention for this mag to be available in the high street? Almost certainly not, VeloVision is only on subscription. They and A to B have found the market far too small to be on the high street, though experiments have been done in having them on the counter of the odd specialist e-bike dealer. I don't know VeloVision's circulation, but the very long established A to B's is less than 3000 worldwide, so the quarterly VeloVision is probably less. Nowhere near enough for the national high streets. .

No doubt circulation would be bigger if we were in WH Smiths etc, possibly even enough to make it worthwhile, but getting onto the shelf is a difficult step for a small publisher. The distribution companies take a lot of margin and then also want considerable amounts of money (five figures last time I looked) up front to 'buy your place' on the shelves. Plus there's a much larger print run to pay for (much of which may end up shredded...). If the new mag really takes off then this may happen in the fullness of time but don't hold your breath! I will try to get it into as many dealers etc as possible, though, and also online in various guises. If all goes to plan I should be announcing it properly via press releases, an announcement on the VV website etc straight after Easter. Almost decided to do it tomorrow, then remembered the date and thought another day might be better :-)
March 31, 201016 yr Well, I ordered a back copy sample (issue 32) from Velo and I really am enjoying reading it. Makes a nice change to get away from too much Lycra(not that those guys and girls aren`t great) but it keeps on reminding me of when I would set off on a Saturday afternoon in the summer and do a 60mile round trip on a fixed wheel and then come back for tea and a night out with me mates:eek: Memories! memories! Anyway, I`ve just ordered a print subscription and urge anyone who hasn`t tried one to have a go, it`s the only way we will keep such a niche market mag up and running. Dave
March 31, 201016 yr Well said Dave. I've got every issue of VeloVision and almost every issue of A to B and wouldn't be without them. Although playing at trains doesn't interest me, I'm even on the second year of A to B's new venture, "Miniature Railway", the tiny subscription cost well worth it to help get a small circulation magazine off the ground. Benefit though the web is, minority special interest magazines need all the support they can get if we are not to have a poorer world without them. .
March 31, 201016 yr The forthcoming electric bike mag sounds like great news and as an on-off reader of VeloVision for the past few years I know it will be top quality Can I suggest a section where joe bloggs can write in with their e-bike and/or kit reviews? Anyway, best of luck with the project Peter, I am sure it will be a great success Jason
April 1, 201016 yr Peter Kindly sent be a couple of back issues of VV, if anyone has not seen a copy may I recommend you buy a subscription, it is without doubt the best cycle mag I have ever read. All the best David
