If you need 13 cells in series to get 48V, that leaves 2 in parallel, so they would have to be 6500mah each – I am not aware of such a cell in the 18650 range.

Oh thanks I thought for a minute I was going crazy - and yep thats what I got 2p - so if they are 3000mah then the ah of the battery is nearer 6

Surely thats not good for range??

Edit - justed emailed em for specs confirmation

I would think that the 13AH is correct and the cell count is not reported correctly. If the weight is 4.2kg it is most likely at 5 or 6 in parallel with the cells being 2.2 or 2.6 each.

They will probably be Samsung 26F and that isn't good if you are going to be drawing high amps regularly...

Actually, thinking a bit more about it, you can't fit 65 cells in those cases (5P13S), so the Ah could also be wrong. Def. worth checking before you buy.

Yes you can, it looks like the tall one (photo from their page):

The low profile ones take 52 cells and these taller ones do take 65 cells.

Yes, you're right AK, I stand corrected:p, but I will blame the nasty man flu I'm suffering from at the moment:confused:

If they are samsung cells they should be ok at 800w on 17amp surely?? mainly just for hills!

you can't fit 65
Yer i think its 52 cell 13s 4p which would be (@2600) 10.4ah thats a lot less than advertised - that said when I got a quote from topbikekit on a 48v hailong they did ask 52 cell or 65 cell with 48v 17amp controller it was around £300-400 shipped and customs duty paid (which I am not sure about)

It looks to me from Yose's ad the cells are generic Chinese ones (C18650). If you look at their other batteries, they state on the spec. when the cells are branded and give the cell model no.

They are only 5 Amp discharge rated and they can't handle 36v 15 Amp in 4P10S. Several of us have had issues with the GSM motor and 26F celled bottle batteries. My non scientific opinion is that they can't take ramping up quickly to full discharge rates and hold that discharge rate over several minutes. They work just fine on flatter land where not so much is asked of them.

A 17 Amp controller drawing 17 Amps from a battery capable of 25 Amp continuous discharge isn't the same thing as drawing the same from 50 Amp continuous discharge (30Q cells) on real world rides. Looks good on paper, doesn't work so well on the road...

So the samsung 30q 3000mah cell is one the best?? is there any other brands that match these cells?
LG make a few HG2 is 3000 mAh 20 Amp nominative discharge

Lower discharge (10 Amp) but 3000 mAh
Sanyo GA
Panasonic PF

Even with brand name cells you have to take the tested continuous discharge with a grain of salt . This is a good test site https://lygte-info.dk/review/batteries2012/Common18650Summary UK.html

d9veh had some good experiences with no name Chinese cells, someone must have made a mistake during fabrication :D

If you have deeper pockets Sony/Murata vtc6a are very good cells.
30Q or Hg2 otherwise.
PF is a lower capacity cell but holds on to power well.
GA is 10a and good for it.

deeper pockets
Is there any UK battery makers that anyone could recommend? Gona compare prices, I was think if the battery doesn't come from EU stock then it would be expected to get stopped at customs, bang 20% VAT + customs notification, if RM charge I am sure other carriers will too, If I am talking £300-400 would it not be easier to buy UK??

The company I am thinking of was mostly likely Jimmy's, I can not find any UK custom battery maker apart from this one, but it would mean contacting them first to see if they would actually make the design I wanted.

Edit just emailed them for a quote

I own a couple of these a few years ago for vaping and now for a power bank they are still in good working order, back then I did a lot research before buying them.

Nice one cheers - I have just had a quick look at there go-to cell I believe it the Panasonic NCR-18650PF lets just stress the PF part did someone mention these being PF were no good??

these batteries peak at 10 amps so 4p equals 40 amps? would these be ok for hills and the odd blast of speed?
