Just what I was looking for.

Teeth on a motorcycle front sprocket were always an odd number and the minimum was 13. Disappointed to hear that the jump from 44 to 50 teeth at the front wasn't very good. I have a 46 tooth, obviously I can't expect much improvement.

    Lightweight trailer

If the Tesco Express is one mile away, then your scheme might work. But I agree with others, little solid wheels would be truly horrid for any longer distance.

    Which would you go for

I'm just not convinced - two heavy cycles on the back of a Chlio would make a significant difference, on the back of an Astra not much - on the back of a camper, none whatsoever. And, while there are some guys who would find lifting 15kg quite tiring, most of us should have no difficulty with...

    Oldest E-Bikes ??

All through the 80s I was a very keen biker - I never, ever noticed an e-bike! All through the 90s I never noticed an e-bike. Even when I discovered digital pictures and started a collection of motorised trikes and cycles, I didn't spot anything with a battery. I don't think I noticed any...

    Oldest E-Bikes ??

10 years or so? Does anyone have really nice old e-bikes in collectable condition?

Would you ride an e-bike without mudguards

The household is drooling over this auction of yours ... that's a very, very nice machine. Electric Bike Ebike | eBay

    Kaylad Electric Tricycle

I've never tried one, but I suspect pedal-trikes are pretty hopeless. Slow/difficult to pedal and difficult to park. But if you need that kind of thing, then an e-powered model would seem to have more of the advantages and less of the disadvantages. I know a woman who has the front half of an...

    Which would you go for

Can that really be so important? If you're carrying it onto a bus, with your shopping in the other hand, I can see weight would be critical, but surely not when you've both hands free and both feet firmly planted on the ground.

Would you ride an e-bike without mudguards

I'm still using my old push-bike in the wet, keeping my ebike all shiny. But I'd not have considered buying a model without mudguards. Stylistic reasons as much as anything. We may be in Kent in a months time, will come in and browse, if that's OK!

Haibike eQ Xduro FS RC - Fully waterproof???

People like you are probably agents for Amazon, who avoid this kind of hassle by never speaking to their customers.

    Security

You're confusing the AXA lock (uses a fairly regular flat key) with the annulus type, cheap versions of which may be vulnerable to the end of a pen. As others have pointed out, the horseshoe lock is not a full solution for an expensive bicycle but is very, very good if you're out shopping...

    Security

They do. Well, every dutch bicycle has one fitted as standard. (Often made by AXA). Yes. Or two lugs with holes in them you could put a padlock through. If you've already got the horseshoe lock or the padlock, all you need do is quite a short piece of chain. Which you can even leave in...

Brompton M2L-X (Titanium) - Super Lightweight Pedelec Conversion

The bar method is approved for straightening all sorts of things (pedals, handlebars etc etc) - if it's a painted item the best thing is a piece of wood, which may be held in place with tape. My question about the Brompton riding in a straight line no-handed was tongue in cheek but the...

HaiBike eQ Xduro FS - a note of caution

Please excuse my head being turned by a visit to Washington State. I'd have otherwise proposed the real McKoy, which is gaffer-tape.

HaiBike eQ Xduro FS - a note of caution

I don't think you can go too far wrong with cherry-wood. Solder may work better in the rear-hub but grain adds a touch of class to handlebars.

    Lifespan of an ebike?

Very valuable tips. And I'm not an expert or even a dedicated pedelec (yet) anyway, I'm still treating the push-bike (or rather, two push-bikes) as my main resource (the e-bike has just 180 miles on it since November). My point is that virtually all serious users will have a spare means of...

Brompton M2L-X (Titanium) - Super Lightweight Pedelec Conversion

Yes, you can clearly see bending within the elastic limit. However, you can also clearly see yield, and for guaranteed it will happen on one side only. Scaffolding pole is long (well, OK, my favourite piece is only 5' long, but you know what I mean). The important part is that you can feel...

HaiBike eQ Xduro FS - a note of caution

I accept you're in a very difficult situation and you're forced into it because customers (like us) will no longer accept "any colour you like as long as its black". We want, nay demand, new models every year - causing huge problems down the line. However, in this case, the customer seems to...

    Lifespan of an ebike?

My thoughts the same. If you've space in the garage, then you should buy a second bike once the shine has gone off the first one. And that principle applies even more if you're dependent on the bike - you should have a new one ready to hop onto immediately. (How many of us only have one...
